What is the smallest amount of money that would be life changing for you?

£500k Thunderball win & I'm quitting - employment - back full time (tho very part time) doing my own thing & both happy & comfortable until tapping out time..

Money can change your life for the better or worse - without a richer inner one what’s the point?
Other than to be flashy and trashy
I did read an article in new scientist a few years ago. It used the football pools, as it was pre-lottery, to gauge peoples happiness before and after a big win. Initially happiness peaks after the win, then tails off to pre-win levels of happiness.

Money makes life a little easier if you are struggling. It doesn't make an unhappy person, happy.

Be careful what you wish for , we’ve probably all had the same conversation with loved ones , I know I did , however , having lost both my wife and father last year I now have that life changing money but believe me I’d give it up in a heartbeat to have them back , especially my wife ❤️
Take care Boro for life.

UTB 👍

What Steve Jobs, probably the richest man in the world at the time, thought about money.

STEVE JOBS' LAST WORDS BEFORE DEATH - SHOULD READ EVERY HUMAN BEING:

In his last world, there’s so much wisdom in this text that I think every human being should read this at least once in life, better once per week. But please read yourself; any citation or change of these words would not make it any better.

"I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In others’ eyes my life is an epitome of success.
However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to.

#. At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.

#. You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone to bear the sickness for you.
#. Material things lost can be found. But there is one thing that can never be found when it is lost – "Life".

#. When a person goes into the operating room, he will realize that there is one book that he has yet to finish reading – "Book of Healthy Life".

#. Whichever stage in life we are at right now, with time, we will face the day when the curtain comes down.

#. Treasure Love for your family, love for your spouse, love for your friends...Treat yourself well. Cherish others.

#. As we grow older, and hence wiser, we slowly realize that wearing a $300 or $30 watch - they both tell the same time...

#. Whether we carry a $300 or $30 wallet/handbag - the amount of money inside is the same;

#. Whether we drive a $150,000 car or a $30,000 car, the road and distance is the same, and we get to the same destination.
#. Whether we drink a bottle of $300 or $10 wine - the hangover is the same;

#. Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3000 sq ft - loneliness is the same.

#. You will realize, your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world.

#. Whether you fly first or economy class, if the plane goes down - you go down with it...

#. Therefore.. I hope you realize, when you have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, who you chat with, laugh with, talk with, have sing songs with, talk about north-south-east-west or heaven and earth, .... That is true happiness!!

It depends on your definition of LIFE CHANGING.

Being given enough money to pay off your mortgage or buy a new kitchen doesn't really change your life - it just makes you more comfortable with the life you're already in.
I suppose most people define it as making your life considerably better.

Otherwise you don't need any money to change your life. Just walk away from everything and start again.

That's why i made a distinction between making life more comfortable and actually changing my circumstances. If I had more money I'd be able to make the choices I want to make more often but there's not really anything that I couldn't do now if I really wanted to (I might need to commit to save up for it). The truly limiting factor is time. I could afford a golf membership at a decent course but I can't spare the time to make it worthwhile. I'd love to go to all the Boro matches but I don't have the time to make the journey every week.

If I had enough money that I never had to work I would have more time and I'd be able to choose what to do with all of my time instead of just the time I'm not working. Whatever that value is is the life changing amount.

I would say that is all most of us want.

Right now, I'd be happy to get £20k to pay off my bank loan and give me an extra £400/month, I've built up the debt over the last 3.5 years on therapy, etc. That would be life changing. We could afford holidays again :(

I was due to retire early at 55, 3 years time. Alas my company decided to scrap my great final salary pension, basically cost me about £300k. I'm not bitter but 20K would do me :)

I'm fed up of being mugged for my Rolexes, Rolexi? So if anything I should be giving money away to prevent the constant beatings.

Being rich is a curse.
If you pretend it’s a Latin word and decline it like codex or index, and I’m remembering my Mickey Mouse schoolboy Latin right, rolices in the nominative or accusative plural if you must. But as it’s a made up word in English and a trademark, you should form an English plural. And even if it wasn’t, you should form an English plural unless you’re an ****.

I had a dream last night i sold some invention to NASA (Im not a scientist, nor will i ever invent anything!) and i got billions and i came on here and messaged all of you and gave you what you'd asked for... Then i bought a mansion and built a giant 11 a side muga in the garden.

Not to be pedantic but surely Rolex is a German/French/Italian or Romansch word?

I don't think I want my life changing. I'm pretty happy with how it is now. It might be improved if, say, I had a dog, but I don't because I travel about too much. I suppose I could hire a dogsitter with the lifechanging money but I could do that if I wanted now with my current money and choose not to.
