£500k Thunderball win & I'm quitting - employment - back full time (tho very part time) doing my own thing & both happy & comfortable until tapping out time..
I did read an article in new scientist a few years ago. It used the football pools, as it was pre-lottery, to gauge peoples happiness before and after a big win. Initially happiness peaks after the win, then tails off to pre-win levels of happiness. This
Money can change your life for the better or worse - without a richer inner one what’s the point?
Other than to be flashy and trashy
That’s the sad fact, £2bn would achieve the first bit but you will probably need a bit more than that to achieve the second.About £2bn would allow me to buy Hull City and have them competing for the Premier League and Champions League.
I might buy a new Ipad too.
Take care Boro for life.Be careful what you wish for , we’ve probably all had the same conversation with loved ones , I know I did , however , having lost both my wife and father last year I now have that life changing money but believe me I’d give it up in a heartbeat to have them back , especially my wife
I suppose most people define it as making your life considerably better. It depends on your definition of LIFE CHANGING.
Being given enough money to pay off your mortgage or buy a new kitchen doesn't really change your life - it just makes you more comfortable with the life you're already in.
That's why i made a distinction between making life more comfortable and actually changing my circumstances. If I had more money I'd be able to make the choices I want to make more often but there's not really anything that I couldn't do now if I really wanted to (I might need to commit to save up for it). The truly limiting factor is time. I could afford a golf membership at a decent course but I can't spare the time to make it worthwhile. I'd love to go to all the Boro matches but I don't have the time to make the journey every week.I did read an article in new scientist a few years ago. Money makes life a little easier if you are struggling. It doesn't make an unhappy person, happy.
I would say that is all most of us want. That's why i made a distinction between making life more comfortable and actually changing my circumstances. If I had enough money that I never had to work I would have more time and I'd be able to choose what to do with all of my time instead of just the time I'm not working. Whatever that value is is the life changing amount.
If you pretend it’s a Latin word and decline it like codex or index, and I’m remembering my Mickey Mouse schoolboy Latin right, rolices in the nominative or accusative plural if you must. But as it’s a made up word in English and a trademark, you should form an English plural. And even if it wasn’t, you should form an English plural unless you’re an ****.I'm fed up of being mugged for my Rolexes, Rolexi? So if anything I should be giving money away to prevent the constant beatings.
Being rich is a curse.
Not to be pedantic but surely Rolex is a German/French/Italian or Romansch word?If you pretend it’s a Latin word and decline it like codex or index, and I’m remembering my Mickey Mouse schoolboy Latin right, rolices in the nominative or accusative plural if you must.
