Yes, there is /was one in Benidorm too.
It is proudly Unionist, with pictures of King Billy, St Edward’s Crowns and Ulster’s red hand etc. Rangers through and through and you would not last 1 minute in a Celtic shirt before feeling pain
I lived near the pear tree for 6 months when we first moved to manchester. It wasn ex council rental. I liked the area and the pub but my middle class wife hated it.The Pear Tree, Wythenshawe, Manchester. Druggy place with people openly dealing, using bongs etc together with plenty of petty criminality. Became the focus of a police raid called 'Operation Partidge' and was closed down and reopened with the name The Wendover which the clientele didn't adapt to and it was demolished shortly after.
I used to go there often in my teens. Had it's moments......As a teenager I went into the Broadway in Middlesbrough & it was the first time I saw someone, a woman (Ethel?), **** on the floor rather than leave the fruit machine & go to the toilet.
It wasn't so much that that happened but that it went unremarked that makes it stand out all these years later.
Similar experience at the Brambles Farm Hotel, we were driving in the area and my girlfriend at the time needed the toilet. She said just pull into there i'll nip in the Brambles Farm Hotel. I thought I'd better go with her as thought could be a bit of a dodgy pub. Dodgy was an understatement. We walked in and were met with absolute death stares. I said f*ck this I'd rather you p*ss yourself than go in here! And I walked her straight back out.Once had a trip to the brambles farm hotel as a long haired student in the late 90's with my long haired student mate just fora change of scenery. We were not well received. Tried the Buccaneer after there, similar reception, so ended back in the hairy lemon where we felt a touch more at home in the surroundings and clientele. Both those boozers were real eye-openers
First time? There were subsequent times? As a teenager I went into the Broadway in Middlesbrough & it was the first time I saw someone, a woman (Ethel?), **** on the floor rather than leave the fruit machine & go to the toilet.

Lots. Back in the 80’s me and the future Mrs R were waiting for the National Expeess to take us back to my folks for Christmas. It was freezing. As there was about 20 minutes to kill we popped into aforementioned pub. It was just after noon. Three lots of very young parents were drinking heavily while their unfortunate progeny, all under 6 or so, ran riot in the pub. Very happy we only had time for one. I was pretty shocked, and I’m used to drinking in rough council estate pubs where I come from.Cannot believe this thread is eleven pages deep and no mention of the Reindeer in Stockton (Unless I’ve missed it).
Horrendous.
