What have you won in competitions

I won a fair few CD's off TFM in the late 90's Early 00's off the early evening show, I forgot what the female presenter was called. I think I used all my luck up then

My mum won a trip for 2 to New York about 3 weeks before 9/11, so she was given holiday vouchers instead, and we all went to Centre Parcs as a family.

She also won a years supply of Tropicana Orange juice which went down a treat.

My Mam won first and second prize at the church raffle when I was six. I picked the tickets out. She was dead embarrassed. Even the vicar shouted "Fix!"

I was one of the very first people in the uk to own a mini disk hifi system i won it on the big breakfast Johnny Vaughn & Kelly brook. It was all JVC stuff I also got one of those bass tube massive portable CD player things which I have to say was f’ing loud & a CD Walkman.
I had just come in from nightshift & had a spliff too when I rang I didn’t even realize I had won.
I could hear Johnny & Kelly talking during the break Johnny was pointing out that Kelly’s nips were very prominent when they came back from break she was holding her clipboard over them.
My wife won a Peugeot car when she was at university

I've won all sorts in quizzes, including two tickets to a Boro away game of my choice at an MSS Christmas do.
A Vic Godard CD on BBC London radio when they still did that sort of thing.
And continuing on a dance theme, I won a pogoing competition at a party at Cheltenham Town football ground back in the 1970s. I can't remember the prize, it was the glory that mattered.

Ali Brownlee book

4 tickets for ZDS FINAL

WON 9 singles ( 45 records for you young uns) at a club in Torquay . Dave Lee Travis was the Radio One presenter and Froggy did the disco( yes I know old terminology). All the singles were not for sale- no doubt an A and R man samples left at Radio 1

£250 and a Shoot! T-shirt for some guess the voice comp. The money probably just about covered the price of the premium rate you had to call.

Tickets to any Boro game in the 1987/88 season...chose the 'Promotion Party' Leicester game 😩

Tickets to the Benson & Hedges golf at Fulford from TFM.

A rubber and key ring from TFM for appearing on the 'Game with no name' with Simon Parkin. When they turned up they were a Radio Tees rubber and key ring, they must have had a load they still needed to flog 😀

A stack of singles from Radio Tees, including "Dissident Aggressor" by Judas Priest and "Harvest For The World" by The Isley Brothers, which set my musical tastes for years to come and an Alex Harvey Band compilation album, which did the same. Then, many years later, 2 tickets to "Wicked", which I struggled to even give away.

Football medals.

Won £500 in the works draw 2 years ago, £70 this year.
I rarely bet but my biggest bet win was £300.

Not won by me but I got to enjoy the prize nonetheless!

My Auntie won a prize on Century for two (plus dads) to go to the Riverside for a full tour. Get changed in the home team dressing room, sit in the conference room, come out of the tunnel in full kit etc.

We then got to play on the Riverside pitch doing mainly skill based games which me and my cousin won one of each and were absolutely adamant this meant we were going to get scouted by the Boro (we were about 10 at the time).

We then got given burger and chips and all sat in the centre circle and ate them.

We were meant to play a match but I think something to do with insurance stopped this from happening but it was a great day for about 50 kids.

Got given a bag at the end with stuff like a glass Boro badge paperweight in which I still have kicking around somewhere about 20 years later!

My Dad used to enter me into competitions in the likes of Shoot, Match and 90 minutes magazines. I remember winning a 90 minutes training top and a Jack Charlton autobiography or something on audio tape. Going back a bit there.

Last season I started entering the Sky VIP weekly ballots for games and within about two weeks of each other I won tickets for FGR V Morecambe and Mansfield V FGR. That was great as I'm trying to complete the 92.

I'm guessing those games weren't in high demand!

Won a pair of Mizuno Rivaldo boots in a comp in 442 magazine, bit of a useless prize for me as I was about 45 and they were white so I gave them to my mates son.

A fmttm quiz on the old site where I won 2 tickets to see the Boro at the Riverside that night play Northampton Town . Had to drive down to fmttm towers in Boro to get tickets and in the car heard about an airliner flying into World trade centre .
Went straight to my mams in the Boro in time to see the second strike .
Sat at the match on the night with my pal and everyone just sat there gazing into a void and nobody of the 3915 crowd made a sound .
Apologies about being downbeat but I will never forget that day much like everyone else . 😔

I love threads like this :)

I've won a couple of things on here - a signed Ali Brownlee book for a caption to a picture, and a bottle of champers for some world cup predictions way back when. I seem to remember donating the champers to Paddy Cronesberry to raffle for the MFC disabled supporters club as they were raising funds for transport. I hope they raised a great amount from it!

I won a Karaoke competition held in a nightclub when I lived in Thailand- $100 worth of lottery tickets, but no result from that.

There's been a few other bits and pieces here and there, but the icing on the cake and many years of family anecdotes and laughs was this:

My Dad was a lorry driver and every year the company held a 'Sports day' at Lealholm. It was largely a bunch of Drivers trying to break the beer consumption record for a given day....... But there were real events. One year when I was about 13, me and a son of my Dad's mate cleaned up on all the sports stuff- sprints, shot, sack race, etc. We came first or second in all the U-15 stuff.

Dad and his mate were beaming with pride, but there was a lot of jibe about sportsmanship and fairness and handing prizes back.

All the moaning stopped after the main event, the adult male 100m handicap sprint. There was a big prize attached to this. Cash + whisky + vouchers for this and that, and in true tradition, probably a meat packet.... It was really worth having. Dad was 43 and fancied his chances :) and my brother in law was a national standard police athlete who also fancied his.....

It was won by the 67 year old organiser of the day. He competed in a 3 piece suit, and had a club foot with a 4" build up shoe...
As my Dad succinctly put it 'All he had to do was fall over and he'd won'

I can only remember having won one thing in my entire life, which was a signed copy of the book released by FMTTM about ten (?) years ago with all the funny old message board threads in. I forget who it was signed by, but I think it might've been Pogatetz, who of course was featured in the Pogi's Head chapter of the book. I enjoyed the book immensely and I still have it in a box of treasures I've stashed at my parents' house. I don't think I had to do anything to win - it was just a prize draw on the official MFC site.

Aside from that, I seem to have rotten luck. I've routinely entered absolutely everything on the O2 Priority app for many years and never won a sausage. I also apply for BBC audience tickets often (although not recently, obviously) and have never been successful. I could go on, but it'll turn into a self pitying rant. Anyway, I've won in life by being a Boro fan ;)

My true win ( not quite a competition) I’ve ever attained is the fabulous family I have been gifted . Who have looked after me more than I could have ever hoped for .
