What has been our worst transfer decision?

When we were relegated, I could understand the sales of downing, huth and alves, but I think it would have made a huge difference if we had kept Tuncay

Gestede, Alves, Mido, Branco but I still think the worst transfer was Strachan and all the **** jocks he brought with him, maybe only Robson was decent. Willo Flood and the others were shocking and nearly bankrupt the club.

Mine is a personal one, the sale of David Hodgson. The club had sold everyone up to that point, Johnson, Proctor, Armstrong, Mills, Souness etc.

I told myself that if they sold Hodgson I was done, they did and for quite some time I was (done). Obviously I did eventually go back, but thinking back about the sale of those players and where the money went and what it all led to, it leaves a bitter taste.

The guy who we wasted over £3m on when we bought Gestede and Bamford

6 games in a year. I'm sure he was "injured" for most of that time, which miraculously cleared up once Karanka took him on a free to Forest. £3m dropped in a year.

I bet Gibson has sleepless nights over the money we've utterly wasted over the years. You could probably count on the fingers of both hands the number of BIG signings we made a profit on.

Hands down Rudy Gestede for me.

He's not the most expensive. Yet 6mil for a 'so called' CF who scored 5-6 league goals over 4 years is awful.

He cost 6mil. Then probably in excess of 10mil+ with wages. Then fecked off for nothing. Also refusing to play when we were in a covid relegation battle.

Oh and reputedly turned down moves away on loan. Just happy to have every Saturday off. Just a shocking player and attitude.

Then even more stunning was that we apparently rejected a bid from Leeds for him. I simply can't believe that was true.

The greatest single thing was warnock telling him to 'go home' within a day of arriving👌

Not selling Gestede to Leeds was insane, buying him after he took a fan to court was equally insane, however you can make a case for hundreds.

Mine would be Charlton not paying the extra £10K to Coventry for David Cross, if he had, I believe we would have won the First Division in 74/75.

There's a massive list tbh

Mark Schwarzer leaving and sticking with Jones/Turnbull
Luke Young out to replace him with Justin Hoyte
Not selling Gestede to Leeds and getting our money back
Selling Bamford to Leeds
Releasing JFH the season Southgate took over
Selling Juninho to Celtic when we got into Europe
Anything Garry Monk did barring Howson and Randolph

Howson deal was agreed with Norwich well before Monk took over, it was completed afterwards thats all.
