What goes through peoples minds?

When I read this it frustrates me that the police's attitude is "People were encouraged to go home and only fined as a last resort". I know this was the policy that was stated at the start of all this, but it's impossible to avoid the Stay Home messages. This has gone on long enough that people travelling like this should be fined on the spot.

Yes throughout this I’ve always thought the gvt/ police don’t want to be too heavy handed for some reason. I’m the other end of the spectrum I was saying to the Mrs why we haven’t got a few army patrols out and about just their sheer presence would act as a deterrent. They are probably cooped up in base so why not put them to some use. Not massively over the top but just a presence.

I don't think we'll be talking for some time......... my facial reaction to them was enough. I really want to report her to the medical centre she works in but this could cause so many problems for them (and us if they react)

I can see some reasons behind not wanting to appear that we are in a military style lockdown with armed troops on the streets, but I agree that the army could have been used to supplement police numbers to ensure better compliance. I wasn't suggesting everyone should be fined instantly on the spot. If someone's 120 miles from home with their bucket and spade heading for the beach there's no excuse.

It's crazy, you do can go a couple of miles over the speed limit & receive fine, this has now been going on for over 3 weeks & people still abuse the system with a ticking off while wasting the emergency services for their pathetic lives

That made me chuckle 😊

Yes they shouldn’t be fined they should be beaten ;-)

I simply can't put myself in their place or state of mind.
It honestly beggars belief that someone could get to 3 weeks into a lockdown having seen the news, the figures on infection, the deaths, even the queues to simply buy food at every supermarket and then think they can do stuff like this.
I would fine them on the spot, no arguments, no debate, no words of advice.
