"In 1897 Frank Dam inventor of the dam had been tasked with coming up with a way to provide drinking water for the rapidly expanding new York city. Whilst on a business trip to London Dam was having trouble with one of the local delicacies. He had ordered a full English but was most perturbed to find that his hash browns were made soggy by bean juice. In order to resolve this dilemma he formed a barrier using sausages plugged up with bits of black pudding to ensure the dryness and structural integrity of his hash browns. Upon seeing the pool of bean juice his meat based structure had created he was struck with a eureka moment. What if instead of bean juice it was water, and instead of sausages it was concrete and aggregate. Thus the Dam was born"
