What formation did we play?

Looked very much a change to 4-3-3 with Barlaser, Hackney & Azaz in midfield and Jones, Conway & Latte Lath upfront. Seemed to cause some confusion. Azaz drifted in to a no. 10 with Borges filling in on the left. Conway in the centre played more as a deep second striker and Latte Lath looked lost on the left wing. Also Hackney played deeper than usual, more a 6 than a 8 and was less influential.
Not sure why Carrick changed from his normal 4-2-3-1 but it didn’t work. Is he trying to fit Conway and Latte Lath in rather than choosing one as the no.9?

When we had our struggles last season Carrick changed to the 5-3-1-1 style formation. We went on a good run. For me with the players we have now, we are more suited to playing that than last season.

Latte Lath will quite rightly be our number 9 for the full season if he stays fit.

Amazing how our fans go from slagging off Gibbo if we accept any less then £30m for him, to saying he should be dropped for Forss of whoever, or moved out wide 😂

We played with no left sided forward for the second game in a row.
Azaz won't stay left. He just drifts back into the no10 spot and plays the same space as Conway.

I think Conway will finish this season as out first choice no9

Conway seemed to be playing as a second striker, he was dropping deep at times.

Lath did drift out to the left but he tends to do that most games, as whoever plays on the left tends to drift inside, as there's a lot of space out on the left.

We’ve been playing like that ever since Carrick arrived. It’s a big part of our success. We basically play with 2 number 10s with jones and the left back providing width.

Give me that over rigid formations any day

Mcgree holds wide to a reasonable extent and provides cover, azaz and Burgzorg are far far too central, almost in the way of other forwards. The tatic might have worked previously but to me its becoming a huge weakness.

Exactly that. Plus Howson and Morris are pretty good at covering the space on the left but that's a weak point with Hackney. I still think Carrick is over complicating things in an attempt to recapture the Giles, Akpom and McGree relationship.

Nah, McGree roams all over too. It’s how we play.

There was loads of threads about him “not tracking back”
