What do we need in January

.If acceptable bid comes in for Hackney replace him.

go for langstaff .
Two horrendous takes. A 27 year old playing his first season in league two, in a team that play very differently tactically to ourselves. And selling probably the best player to come through the academy in a generation, that is Taylor made for our style of play under Carrick, has a long contract and should only go up in value.

I'd sign a RB, although I'd love Dijksteel to improve the concentration side of his game to become a regular as the Crooks, Jones, Dijkstell triumvirate works exceptionally well.

I'd bring a striker in, IF, it could be a player who was versatile to also play wide/number 10 role(s) to allow Lathe and Coburn to still get plenty of minutes, as they are our players after all.

Hope we can hold onto Hackney but Boro are a selling club.

In certain circumstances yes, we are, as are all clubs. If Saudi FC offer silly money, yes we will sell, but i dont envisage a scenario where he pushes for a move A la Tav, or we sell due to market forces like last year of contract like Chuba or Spence.

I need to get a plumber in.

Dreadful smell coming from the downstairs bog whenever it’s used. Lingers for a couple of days. Worried that there could be a blockage.

Probably need to do it this month TBF.

Can't see Hackney being sold in January. Summer, almost definitely if we aren't promoted. For a start no club that can afford him would be panic buying a youth prospect as that is what he is. He isn't experienced in the PL so nobody is going to take the risk on him so they will wait until the summer. The only possibility would be a big bid from someone that wants him but with a loan back until the end of the season. Still an unrealistic scenario though. January buys are usually made for quick fixes.

We need a better striker. Personally, I'm still baffled why Forss is never given a go up front. I know Carrick likes him coming off the right but he's better than what we have up front and he's worse than what we have out right. If he's not going to be given a chance then hopefully someone like Archer is available on loan. Similar to the Hackney situation I wouldn't expect us to be panic buying anything other than a ready-made guaranteed goals striker and they are either out of our budget or they are loans.

We're definitely weak at right back. We are even when all our players are fully fit. Smith is solid but not great and he's better than the rest we have so that should be a priority.

I'd still like a proper DM. Howson is not what he was and Barlaser is a different sort of player. I think we need a Boateng type DM which also frees up Hackney or whoever plays the other role. Maybe O'Brien can be that player?

We've only got 3 fit CBs, 4 if Clarke can stay involved. Maybe another CB would be good, especially if we are going to allow McNair to leave. Would make sense to get his replacement in if there is one available.

A proper hard man midfielder for when teams don't allow us to play our passing game. You look at how we traditionally struggle against Alex Neil teams and you see who he has in his midfield so we need to counter that when necessary.
If we can add that as an alternative and get in a striker that fits our style as we did with Archer then I'll be over the moon.
I certainly wouldn't sell Hackney or send the likes of Gilbert out on loan either.

Injury status at the end of this month will be key.
As will be points situation re play offs.
Quality, not quantity.
When fit we have a massive squad.
We should be able to cope with reasonable injuries.

Sign 1 striker and 1 right back.

Loan out Gilbert, sell Coulson.

Make a swift decision on the goalkeeper situation.

That's it for me, assuming O'Brien gets fit enough to play again in the next few months.

Two new strikers and a defender.Get rid of coulson, send Gilbert out on loan.If acceptable bid comes in for Hackney replace him.Go for the American lad use hoppe as part of that deal and go for langstaff .Maybe a defender on loan tie McNair to a new deal.
Not you in charge of our transfer policy.

Hope hackney stays but the lad is premier League standard hope he keeps developing with Boro and takes them up .If any coach is going to get Boro promotion it's Carrick.
