What do fans want to see in a game of football?

Last week Boro played in two highly competitive games. Against Hull then Ipswich, both teams were going all out for the win to the end. Everyone needed to wiin. Two tremendous atmospheres, also. Afterwards, I was chatting to one Boro fan, we were saying what a week of football we had watched.
But we failed to win and failed to get in the play off zone.
If you were watching/listening at home did you enjoy those contests?

I thought both games where excellent as you say and if Boro where able to have our full strength squad like Hull and Ipswich did I genuinely believe we would of won both and would be in the mix for promotion.

I am hopeful that we can yet again make some shrewd signings in the summer and be a little more consistent and we will be right up there in the mix come the end of next season!

If we hadn’t lost Delap to injury we would have won the league.

Fags at half time, a goalie with a flat cap on, players with baggy shorts down to their knees, a man running on with a bucket of cold water and a sponge if some ponce goes down “injured”, shoulder charges, crowd surges, pork pies an bovril at half time for ten bob ………………

Good teams, by their nature, will often nullify the threat of the opposition.
More evenly matched teams, especially those that have a weakness somewhere, will invariably create better games.
Part of the joy of watching the Boro last year was that we were always vulnerable. That might seem an odd thing to say, but I think it adds to the excitement knowing that your rampaging fullback might be the reason you concede or your crazy goalie has a rick in him.
Best game I've seen this season was Wolves Vs Coventry in the cup. Not the most quality, but definitely the most end to end and incident packed.

I'm presently sitting watching the Coventry cup match and for me it is a hard watch. I've spent more time on my laptop flicking through woodturning videos on YouTube. Coventry fans will say the atmosphere was brilliant and they put up a good display, etc, but that is because they are emotionally invested. I enjoyed our performances against Hull and Ipswich, I wonder if a neutral fan would say the same.

Edit: Saying that, it is now game on, Coventry pulled it back to 3-2.

If it's the Boro then I want to see us win. If we can't manage that then to see us give it a go.
When I'm watching as a neutral (or a tourist, as the current term seems to be) then I'm hoping to see a moment or two of skill beyond the level that I'm expecting, be it a World Cup game or a Sunday morning kick around.
