What a Friendly act by France.

We still seem to be arguing over this massive deluge of refugees coming here. No l e has yet explained why France had three times as many as us and Germany TEN time the number of refugees. We seem to be arguing over something that is a minority event.

The problem is not the French allowing the "economic refugees" to cross the channel it's just that we don't send the ******s back. Sorry to sound harsh but we have more than enough problems with the virus without them potentially adding to it.

How can we send them back to France if they arent French citizens?

One of the biggest problems we've got is that a large percentage of our own population are ignorant ****s 👎 Sorry to sound harsh 😗

There are so many things that need addressing here.

WHO ARE the people that are upset about REFUGEES coming here? Why are we all ignoring the fact we have significantly fewer refugees then Germany and France. What is wrong with people who don't want to shelter people escaping oppression and the threat of violence and death?

I'm not sure there are many (not decent normal people anyway) who are upset about genuine refugees coming to settle, live and work in the UK. I do think people are a allowed to be concerned by the hundreds of illegal economic migrants coming in every week, which is fuelling the horrendous people trafficking industry, and adding to our already out of control problems such as poverty, homelessness and unemployment.

Given Britain's at times notorious imperial past. The Country owes it to others to be kind.

What I don't get is why the refugees want to come to the UK. We are continual told on here that we are going to be worst off in the UK after Brexit is completed. They still come, going through Germany and France to get here why?

You're assuming they all want to come here. They don't.

They are problems we've chosen to have. We don't have to have poverty homelessness or mass unemployment. They're choices we made as a society.

The problem is multifold and complex, the system in place of having to physically be in the country you wish to claim asylum in needs to be looked at as it leading to unnecessary risks and a huge market in illegal trafficking.

A popular misconception is that refuge has to be sort in the first safe country this is not part of the Geneva Convention and a displaced person can pass through safe countries to seek asylum elsewhere, however the EU passed an amendment called the Dublin Regulation that allows for the return to source of EU entry if certain criteria aren’t met.

From speaking to Refugees around Europe in the past the vast majority want to come the U.K. for several reasons, language and existing familial or cultural support being the two that appear almost invariably.

I can understand the concern that these boats are being used to bring illegal immigrants into the country and not just fleeing refugees but from my experience the risk of death and the cost of passage means that the vast majority are genuine cases fleeing persecution and war zones.

Disingenuousness springs to mind here!

Perhaps one of the real problems is that about 5 Million people have been driven to leave a country, which was affluent in agriculture and oil, by a tyrant who has persecuted his own countrymen aided by Russia. To want to settle in Britain, a country which already has 4 times the population of their own country Syria, is sad, but at the moment no one can alleviate this situation.

Our government is responsible for the poverty and homelessness you see in this country, dont let the media fool you into blaming anyone else

Its nothing new, this country has had homelessness, poverty and unemployment in all of it's recent modern history. It fluctuates on whoever is running the country, and as said above we as a society have accepted that.

Turning a blind eye to the mass exploitation of people through the horrendous people trafficking industry though is not the answer.

There are nearly 7 million Syrian refugees and around 15k of those are in the UK of that number around 3k of those were Syrian nationals already working in the UK predominantly in the financial sector in London, so whilst you’re right that the circumstances in Syria and Assad are appalling the numbers looking to relocate in the U.K. are relatively small in relation to the overall situation.
