West Ham vs Arsenal

Knowing the decision making history of West Ham's owners, they'll be thinking of making a move for Guardiola if City lose tomorrow, but end up with Garry Monk in charge ready for a massive spend in January.

David Moyes must be having a good old chuckle right now.

They will sack Lopetegui and appoint Graham Potter. But they will not have success under Potter either. The fans will not accept a manager called Graham. It will have to be a more honest name than that. Billy, Harry, Dave. Maybe a Geoff, a Bobby. Martin. The problem they have is that there’s a dearth of coaches with those names. They had the last one and they sacked him even though he brought them a trophy and three years of European football. You reap what you sow.

I spoke with a West Ham fan ( friend of a friend) this week who knowing I was a Boro fan told me in very disparaging terms that West Ham had plans to sign ELL and Hackney in the January transfer window for a combined £40m ( which included add ons). I told him he was crazy if he believed this would actually happen particularly as their manager would probably be sacked this week. His retort was they were not the current managers choices but the recruitment teams and ‘if West Ham come calling Champo players come running’. Bit of an arrogant prat and would be beyond shocked if this was remotely true. Checked their message boards and while both have passing mentions nothing to suggest it is going to happen.
