Well said Grimsby, hope others follow

It makes me laugh when teams such as Bournemouth and Brentford vote or this nonsense when in the not too distant past they'd have relished the thought of a replay against a "big" club.
Still, fair play to them for getting in with the big boys.
Hypocrites

You have to think of the 6 or 7 teams playing in Europe with squads of 25 international players on multi million pounds a year having to potentially play one or two FA Cup replays a year because they put out half a team of kids against lower opposition in the first meeting. This then drags the season out and restricts the number of pre and post season tours they can go on to increase the coffers to keep them at the top of the game.

The other 85 just don’t understand the demands this puts on these poor so called big clubs. The 85 are just all about self interested in having enough money to keep the floodlights on, keep the club a float for another year or have enough to build repair essential infrastructure that a replay might bring them.

It tough at the top… and these guys are trying to “save football” but get nothing but criticisms from everybody else.

Who do these rich spoilt bas tads think they are, screwing our game for their own selfish benefit.
We know money has ruined the game for the many, now it seems the few are capping it off.
It's bad enough for clubs outside the Premiership, scraping enough to get by.
A good cup run can help lower league clubs to secure their finances for another season.
If the English game is too much for these foreign-owned clubs and billionaires, stuff off to Saudi Arabia or Europe and form a Super League.
We can incorporate the National League into the pyramid and stick the Premiership in the bin.(n)

Need to pressure to get it reinstated of course these sides competing in Europe could just concede after a first leg draw, if it’s too much for them to play a replay

I’m not sure it’s about that

I think it’s about the lack of consultation with the EFL clubs and the fact that half a dozen clubs at the top of the pyramid have got their way.
I agree, but from a sporting glory view there maybe more giant killings. And the winner should go in to get a payday next round.

One good thing is to ensure the ties are now on a weekend, stopping the mid week rounds. Should help bigger away followings/ atmosphere.

The other thing I think they should do is review the prize money. It will be a “big club” that wins it and the financial reward equates to a few weeks wages for a player. Spread that money out further down

Possibly but it does take away the potential for a big pay day at Old Trafford or wherever
Is that what the FA cup has become? A financial life line to smaller clubs. Seams a bit of a random way of supporting / funding football. I think the bigger picture needs addressing

Rather than replays - which I've no problem stopping at maybe the last 8 stage, so long as the home leg is decided / chosen - by the lower league / position team - I'd scrap extra time, actual fatigue is when injuries occur so get rid of that instead: straight to pens.. [ & if a team has had a player sent off that is one of their pens missed at kick 11 ]

Any cup run has always been a great source for lower league teams. Depending on how you look at it fortunately/unfortunately we have such an abundance of teams within our football pyramid system (I even include Sunday pub league sides in this as even they take a slice of the sponsorship pie) that the fight for sponsorship to aid in the running of a football club is a huge battle year in year out. The fight for teams to keep stadiums up to standard alone is a massive battle especially when you factor in the way the price of materials alone has gone over the last couple of years. All of a sudden a good cup run you can plan to make the improvements that are a requirement before you can be promoted whether you win the league or not and that "next tier sponsorship" to then allow investment in the playing squad. A good cup run with the addition of a couple of high income replays can cover the basic funding for lower league teams for a couple of years.

Your 100% correct the wider funding does need to be looked at to aid the pyramid and especially the grants system.

Of course the bigger picture needs addressing but the fa cup has always been a financial lifeline to smaller clubs.

Also moving it to the week before the last PL games - that devalues it further.

FA Cup, always the last domestic game of the season (bar the playoffs).

Now, just squeezed in as an afterthought to suit what the big boys want.

Fooking yaaay eh?
