Hi all . Thought I’d give a view now I’ve been here for most of my week trip . Have to say that the Spanish staff in the resort have got it pretty much spot on. Hotel requires mask wearing at all times unless eating , tables well spaced out, sanitising , direction arrows etc.

all restaurants the same high standard . Table service only.

Beach beds all well spaced .

holiday makers pretty much sticking to the rules .
All good.

worst part by far however was the travelling. The Queue at Teesside airport was crammed, people trying to social distance but not good . Less than a metre on the plane to airport bus. Then the Spanish form check was rammed .

so for me the place seems as safe if not more than the U.K. but travelling is the risk i think .... oh and remembering all the paperwork .

What day did you fly Johnny?
We fly on a Saturday lunchtime, wondering if the queues will be as bad.

We flew last Saturday from Teesside . The check in was amazingly smooth and honestly you could have turned up with less than 2 hours and there would be no or little queue.

The only queue was waiting or the plane.

Actually in palma airport we landed at about 7pm which seemed to coincide with a few other European planes so all crammed .

axtually probably took about 20 mins but was busy

The sad thing is that the whole of Spain, both mainland and islands, is suffering a significant increase in cases. Due in part to the Johnson variant being exported to Spain from the UK. My guess is that the UK was probably the main source of the variant for us.

The vaccination process is working it's way through the 20-29 year olds now here. However there is still quite a way to go. Also, this group (and teenagers) are the main cause of the increase in cases here.

So I would advise people to be very cautious if they do decide to visit somewhere in Spain in the not too distant future.

I feel sorry for the Spanish - if 1% of Brits turn out to be hidden carriers, but they need British tourists.

More cases on Covid in the UK than the rest of the EU together.

It is only parts of Spain that rely on tourism. I think that those areas are the ones where the rate of infection is going up quickest.

For example, the main part of the economy where I live is growing fruit and veg. There is some tourism here. With Roquetas de Mar not far away. However it is not the most important thing.

The infection rates per 100,000 for my province, medical region in the province and town council area are all less than 200. The national figure is over 400.

I'm sorry but the reason it got in the UK was because we let India stay off the red list and that is all down to Johnson, I don't think we blamed the people from India for coming here (we'll I know I certainly haven't) so I think its a bit harsh to blame travellers to Spain from the UK for the rise of cases in Spain.

Spain could have closed their borders to travellers from the UK and put us on their red list equivalent like France, Germany and Italy did.

I blame Johnson, not the British people. Him not blocking travel into the UK from India caused the problems in Spain.

The Spanish government and young Spain people then made things worse here.

I think that Johnson is to blame for the Delta variant being in the UK because he did not put India on the red list as soon as we were aware of the new variant,But surely by the same same token it is the Spainish Goverment fault that they did not put the UK on the Red list when they were aware it was prevalent in the UK.

You have not quoted the second half of what I wrote. The usual technique of quoting part of something written out of context.

I said the Spanish government and young Spanish people then made things worse.

Johnson's was the primary mistake. If that had not happened the Johnson variant would have taken longer to spread across Europe. Or would have spread less.

Nothing was taken out of context. You wrote you blame Johnson who caused the current problems in Spain and the Spanish government and young people made it worse.
A country has to take responsibility for its own actions to protect its citizens. Johnson failed this for the UK but the Spanish government failed its citizens.
otherwise the it’s a pass the buck situation ( the uk blaming Italy who in turn blaming China and China blaming ????).
The bottom one is if you criticise Johnson for allowing the Delta variant into the uk ( which i do) you then logically have to blame the Spanish government for allowing the variant into Spain.
