Wearing shorts outside in winter

Over the last 12 years I have done 12 Camino de Santiago in Spain and France from just a few days to 70 days in time on them, when I walk in summer I tend to wear convertible trousers because of the sun and ticks and other wee little beasties, in winter I have gone from proper winter technical trousers and boots to shorts and hiking trainers, if it gets totally baltic I can wear leggings under my shorts and they will give me warmthfrom the inner facing brushed fleece in rain and snow.

When I flew back from Qatar two weeks ago, the flight had loads of Ecuadorians on it...all still in their Ecuador shirts and shorts. Landed at 5:30 in the morning at Gatwick and it was brass monkeys.
Ay caramba!

I love wearing shorts in summer as much as the next person but I can see no logic in wearing shorts during the winter. I've just been out and seen a guy wearing a thick winter coat up top and then a pair of shorts.

Do any of you wear shorts outdoors in winter?
Yep. Usually teamed with a hoodie of some sorts.
