Wearing masks

What my point is, is that why not make the wearing of masks mandatory, unless a person has a GP note to say otherwise, if the science states it reduces infection then enforce it, that includes proving medical exemption, that removes any doubt or any people trying to play the medical exemption card when they actually are not exempt? At least this way, shops , pubs etc. could enforce, they would either see a mask or a legitimate medical exemption card, not a self prescribed one.

There is no place for this kind of response - far too much logic to it.
Would just add, on your last bit, there would still be a problem with enforcing in a shop or pub - threat of violence is real and shop workers have been spat at and coughed upon.
All a bit tricky asking anyone other than the old bill to enforce the law.

Just on your first point, saying it is up to the government to enforce the law, not shops, does that same rule apply to the sale of alcohol or cigarettes to underage people, where do you see enforcement to lie there?

The law states it is illegal for a supermarket to sell to a minor. Store can have its licence removed if they do so. So, they take all precautions.
If the law said it is illegal to serve someone who doesn’t wear a mask and there are severe consequences to the supermarket then you get action.

The other way of looking at is
It is illegal for a customer to steal money from a till (called a till snatch). Store teams Are told not to resist that kind of behaviour either - threat of violence.

I’m suggesting, taking your mask off in an indoor space exposes the same risk whether you’re eating a sandwich or not.
C’mon Newy, you’ll comprehend this, sooner or later.
Taking your mask off while seated to eat a sandwich does not pose the same sort of risk as walking around an airport without a mask.

You’re seated in the same indoor space as people walking around.

this an example of a cough in a supermarket aisle on the right aisle and the particles moving through the air.

That visual does not prove your point. Someone walking around without a mask poses more of a risk than some seated taking their mask off temporarily.

Why don't people get it?

I'm currently in an airport and sat down having some food before my flight. All the way through security and now watching people walk round.

Masks covering mouth but not nose?

Mask around chin?

Or have mask at the start sit down but then going to toilet etc leave mask on table.

It really is unbelievable.

Well I flew from Newcastle last week and found the exact opposite. Everyone was well behaved and all faces covered appropriately

It wouldn't be a problem if proper measures were taken if that did happen, I don't mean just now, I mean historically too.

We have put ourselves in this position by being too soft on criminals. End of the day, attacking someone, spitting on someone or coughing on someone could kill them, or put them in a bad way (physically or emotionally) for a long time. Why should the victim be at risk of a longer punishment than the perpetrator. Just lock the aggressors up for 10 years, and it would stop instantly, once word got around. People take the pi$$ and act like idiots as we let them get away with it, we're our own worst enemy.

It’s just a fact.
The good old “fmttm fact”.
It’s a also probably a fact that if you take your face mask off in an indoor public space the risk is greater than if you kept it on.
You may feel more entitled because you’re eating a sandwich and thus adhereing to the rules but it’s just as bad.
This is also just going around circles. I won’t be replying to you again within this thread. Have the last word and feel good about it.

I'm not eating a sandwich? You were having a pop at the guy taking his mask off to eat a sandwich making out like he was just as bad as someone not bothering to wear a mask at all, walking round all day. Then you posted a picture of someone sneezing/coughing in a supermarket to try and prove your point.
