Wearing masks

Why don't people get it?

I'm currently in an airport and sat down having some food before my flight. All the way through security and now watching people walk round.

Masks covering mouth but not nose?

Mask around chin?

Or have mask at the start sit down but then going to toilet etc leave mask on table.

It really is unbelievable.

Yes & why even bother to wear one if not wearing one correctly, people know the rules yet again think, ah those don't apply to me

But, I assume you’re out in a indoor public space without a mask whilst eating?

I am obeying the rules yes. The tables are very well spaced out as it happens I am very conscious of the rules and my responsibilities to others.
Obeying the rules? The rules are a joke. You think COVID doesn’t threaten you because you’re eating a sandwich? The “rules” aren’t fit for purpose. To sit there judging others for not wearing a mask whilst not wearing a mask yourself is laughable.
You don’t know if these people have medical conditions which prevent them wearing a mask, under the “rules”.

I said I was obeying the rules staying in my own space. I was referring to people walking around through crowds of people without wearing the mask correctly. You obviously seem to just want to start an argument but im a bit tired today thanks all the same

How irresponsible. Follow the rules could not be any more simple

I said after my trip to tesco yesterday that it actually winds me up more folk wearing them wrong that not at all.

Not wearing them is a choice. I question why you'd put one on and have a nose sticking out or sat below the chin

I must have seen 8-10 wearing them incorrectly in tesco. The usual ones being taking the mask to pack or answer a phone. I'm sure if I said 'get your mask up you pr*ck' the person would here me? So I'm confident you can answer a phone or talk to the checkout staff without pulling it down😕

I just don't see the hassle about wearing one. I don't wear one other than shops. I don't mind folk out dog walking etc without one on or even people who wear one everywhere.

It's unfortunate that covid isn't selective. Also the NHS has to treat anyone including clowns who don't wear one.

Going to the pub all day is following the rules. COVID doesn’t attack till after 10pm 🙄
Personally responsibility goes beyond following the rules.

Using examples of some of the rules not making sense to not follow the rest is irresponsible.

It doesn't matter if your opinion is right or wrong, if you fail to follow the guidelines and cases surge, it just becomes easy for the government to blame you and avoid responsibility.

I’m at the point now where I believe we should let people make their own decisions. Issue guidance, but if people choose not to do so then so be it.

In our house we are all recovering from Covid. We’ve followed the rules, used masks, socially distanced etc, as soon as my son went back to college there was a positive case which took a week to identify before college was shut down. Hey presto, he contracted it and now we all have it.

People are choosing to comply or not, the rules are utterly farcical, track and trace is a disaster. Just let people choose and stop with the ”fines”.

I understand there are implications however regardless of the rules 10% of people will simply ignore them. Let everyone get on with it.

Yep totally agree,

Best wishes for a swift and complete recovery for you and your Mr.171

But the point of masks is in the numbers. The more people that wear masks the less the virus (and other contagions) are transmitted.

The rules and guidelines are deliberately muddled and confusing so that the Tories can blame the general population for their uncaring incompetence. Local lockdowns are a good example. If you live in Stockton you aren't locked down, cross the river - locked down, enter Co. Durham locked down... Stockton must have the best mask wearers or else the virus can't work out if we're Smoggies or Mackems...

Thanks.

That’s my point, rules are just pointless. People will ignore them anyway, we’ll still have to treat them - look at Johnson and Cummings.

Just issue guidance and say “up to you”.

The rules aren't pointless, they're saving lives, or preventing death, whichever way you look at it.

Guidance doesn't work, as it shouldn't be up to you (or anyone else) if you/ they want to risk passing it onto others and killing them.

The idea is that the masks and measures are to reduce the chances of infection, they're not going to be perfect but it's better than everyone getting it in the UK, and having 500k extra dead people.

The masks you were wearing are not really designed to stop you getting infected, but they're there to help assist stopping you passing it onto others, so for all you know there could be 10 people in the supermarket that didn't catch it because your family wore those masks.

It seems like the infection you have has likely come from your son, so likely caught in your house/ car etc when you were not wearing a mask, or keeping to the 2m? Maybe he caught it from someone not wearing a mask, and breaking the rules?

Good luck getting better.

Totally agree. Some people are just stupid. Obviously the people who don't need to wear them for health reasons I understand but why don't they wear a visors though
Some if the reasons are mental health reasons. Granted not everybody who isn't wearing one will have a legitimate reason. There was a story back in June of a woman who doesn't wear one because she was gagged and blindfolded then raped a few years ago.

Pointless in that as soon as you bring in schools, college, work, pubs, opening hours, area boundaries, work etc then the virus can’t be controlled. We took all precautions and followed guidelines yet still caught it.

Give people the choice. Follow the guidelines, do your best if you want - but we know a certain percentage won’t follow the rules, and even those that do can still catch it.

Maybe describing the rules as a mess would be better, rather than pointless.

I went for a test this morning having run a temperature for the past 2 days and now I'm feeling a bit of tightness across the chest.
I'm self-isolating awaiting the results of course, but if I do have it then it just goes to prove that no matter how careful you are personally, you are still very reliant on others being as diligent.
