We turned the corner, now we’ve now done a u-turn

Woodgate has to go. It seems when he has options he doesn’t know how to keep players happy other than to rotate

We should have been looking to cement championship status in the last 3 games and we have 1 point

Was it you that I discussed this with on the old board? We never did turn a corner. As it turns out the Christmas run was the blip. This is what we are. Relegation fodder.

Looking forward to the 5 changes in midweek and a change of formation.

Possibly a shot too.

Can’t wait.

We have a novice coach
A no 2 that has never managed and has been outside of uk football for years
And a no 3 who was a goal keeping coach

Total no of years between them in top flight management before they took this role - NONE

We had turned the corner. We’d improved performances and had brought consistency.it is the definition of turning the corner

You can turn a corner and regress again.

Woodgate found balance and in the team with Spence and coulson, his only options aythe time and it seems he can’t even see that was his route to his success.

For me I’d have to say woodgate has to go. Clueless

No. Turning a corner means passing a critical point in the race. It means you’re on the way and that things are looking up. As it turns out it was a false dawn.

Woodgate definitely has to go.

By that definition we had turned the corner. Majority People were feeling good, the talk was about looking up the table not looking behind.

Yes it turned out to be a false dawn, but at the time we had turned it as the performances matched the results at the time

Well no the opposite is true. By that definition we most certainly hadn’t. It was too soon to say so. But it’s a pointless semantic argument so let’s not bother with it.

Argue all you like, we don't create enough, we don't score enough and apart from the 4 on the bounce period we are averaging 0.83 points per game. Since Preston it has been 4 points out of 21 or 0.57 points per game.
Think about that, we could get 6 or 7 points more on that form.

True our interpretation on the definition is clearing different. I think we both agree we’ve seen enough of woodgate

Youth was key for us earlier in the season and our good run of form.

Spence, Coulson and Tav should be the first names on the teamsheet.

I think Fulham away was a big turning point. Since then he hasn't trusted our younger players, and is now turning to experienced players, who actually haven't been doing it for us all season. It's bizarre.

He’s just been changing things too much. It’s a sign of muddled and confused thought. His lack of experience, coupled with an inexperienced back up team just isn’t working.

This was my fear and so it proved

I'm with adi on this one. I didn't see the Preston or west brom game and no doubt they were good results. However, we were extremely lucky to get the home wins against Stoke and Huddersfield. I didn't see anything in those performances that suggested we'd turned a corner.

Exactly as I saw it.

We looked like a relegation team yesterday. Unable to pass the ball, couldn't clear, no confidence, no shots on target and Gestede on the pitch!

I actually left with 7 minutes left as it was that bad and I prioritised driving home.

His lack of faith in promising young players, shows his lack of experience. Young players will have an off day, but they will learn from their mistakes if handled properly. Fulham away in hindsight wasn't a terrible performance. We created some openings, but were caught out at the back against a good side.

We changed our tactics by stopping playing the long ball and every Pears kick out and goal kick aimed at a small roundel of players, from which we lose every ball. We also put a lot of work in defensively to defend the width of the park. Possibly the loss of Ayala has been a major reason for why we are more limited in that approach, but we had turned a corner. Barnsley didn't look like scoring yesterday apart from once in each half. We matched them in good opportunities (wing almost scored from inside the box) but we stopped doing what led to good results after the first half against Derby.

PS I was also enjoying watch us play. Yesterday was painful to watch as we spent 90 minutes trying to play to none of our strengths, all of their strengths, all of our weaknesses and none of their weaknesses (their RB!!!).
