I read a post on Facebook a few weeks ago asking what is your clubs anthem. A few said Pigbag. Which is a complete embarrassment
Boros Anthem is we shall overcome and always has been. Its unique to our club. Those who say it was binned after "we finally overcame when we won our first trophy" are deluded. There's always another fight, another struggle to overcome.
Bring it back, sing it loud, sing it proud and we shall overcome some day.

1) It is when you tremble uncontrollably in anticipation of a stressful or worrying event. Often experienced by Middlesbrough FC fans when Glover is about to pass the ball to a midfielder surrounded by four opposition players.
2) It is a type of glass with extra resistance. In complete contrast to the Middlesbrough FC defence who have just about no resistance to even the weakest of attacks.
3) It is a super-abundance of midfielders with a particular style but not a lot of substance. As demonstrated by...yep, you guessed it.

Cultural appropriation? That is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. Are only black people allowed to play reggae music. Can white people only sing with a microphone because they invented it and should black people not be allowed to watch TV because of the same reason? Oh and while we're at it, are we English allowed to watch TV because it was invented by a Scottish fellow.

Its a song directly about black oppression whats our oppression. Its a pathetic sentiment for so called hard done by boro to latch onto

I know exactly where it comes from. It doesn't mean it can't be used in modern times and modern contexts. We can still overcome racism, homophobia and many other things as a club. Saying its cultural appropriation. Give me a fecking break. If you don't like the song then fair enough.

But the sentiment boro fans sing it with isnt about racism or homophobia at all its just about not being quite as good as the opposition

It never meant to me as a young kid not being quite goog enough. It meant to me that we will beat you all eventually. If not today but we will beat you and it wasn't always sang in defeat. It was sang with pride and with hope.
I actually think it's the small club mentality of people like you and your own inferiority complex about our great club that makes you think we shouldn't sing this.

We don’t NEED TO HAVE these things, it just reeks of desperation to have some identity a large portion of our supporters crave.

Pig Bag is something that's been played over the PA that some seem to like. No problem with that. Same as the power game but it's not our anthem.

What's wrong with having an identity and a brand that people identify with? Should we just all be drones that follow just because someone told us to?
