We need a Club announcement regarding season ticket renewals today.

If the Club have anything about them then, they must realise that they have made a terrible mistake. After a very disappointing end to last season and one of the worst goalscoring home records this season, they then announce the early bird season ticket prices with the increase in price and the very short period to pay. They need to extend the time to pay. The email sent out was a disgrace. No reason for the increase, no thanks for the great support, home and away over the season. Just a cold, one paragraph email telling us that we save, compared to the high priced, pay on the day, prices. MFC, you need to appreciate your fans. They are the Club. Players, Managers etc come and go. If the fans went then…

The days of the club really caring about the fans are gone.

It's a business, and for how Gibson operates - just look at his flip to becoming a Tory. Apologies for bringing politics into it, but gives you an idea how he thinks/operates.

Boro "man of the people" "one of our own".....he's just a fan who owns the club now.

Has Gibson ever admitted to making a mistake?

I’m not sure he’s capable of it.
Gibson rarely communicates with the fans, during the good times and the bad. He's infamous for not giving interviews etc.

I'm sure he'll know that he's made mistakes, particularly with some of the managerial appointments he's made, but he can hardly come out publically and say it. It would be disrespectful towards a club legend if he said that in hindsight appointing Southgate was the wrong decision.

I do agree with fans however who are saying it would be nice if we got a bit more clarity with regards to why the club have to charge such high prices for season tickets.

I just looked. For my wife and I it would be over £1400. To go to random games on Tuesdays, or Wednesday or 5:30 Saturday or midday Sunday. No wonder we never got one and no wonder we have stopped even going to any game due to walk up prices. We'd rather go watch something at a theater instead for these prices. Sad but true as we miss the riverside but money is tight.

I'm convinced the early deadline date is a deliberate ploy to try and sneak through the price increase. The club will move the deadline to April saying they have listened to the fans and acted on it. Fans will renew thinking the club has done the right thing. Everyone a winner, almost.........😀

I’m sure you won’t get 23 trips to the theatre for that price I took the wife to see Moulin Rouge when we played Millwall and it cost £388 for 2 tickets and they weren’t the dearest

Good luck with that

I don’t want to get into the subject of pricing as it’s a highly emotive subject. We all want cheaper tickets but I can’t say I didn’t expect it given inflation / general finances at the club.

The deadline to buy is the worst part of it. I get a bonus in March which thankfully takes care of our season tickets.

The earlier deadline is a pain as I won’t be paid before it’s due. I’m fortunate enough where I can work around it but I know loads of others who can’t turn around that much money in such a short period.

Terrible decision by whoever was involved.

I wouldn’t want to go to the theatre 23 times, and if did I’m sure I could shop around and find tickets that are fairly cheap and certainly wouldn’t be going to London every other weekend to watch it. In the same way I wouldn’t want to go to concert that costs 70 odd quid a go 23 times a year but if I wanted to see live music 23 times a year I’m sure I could find some local gigs or see artists at smaller venues.

The fact is with most things in life I have a choice, if Tescos is too dear I’ll go to Aldi, if I can’t afford to go abroad on holiday I’ll find cheap uk alternative and so on, I have no choice when it comes to which football I want to see. As has been pointed there are at least half a dozen Premier League teams I could go to see that are cheaper than Boro and offer a better product, but I don’t want to, I want to be able to afford to go see my team. Unfortunately that’s the price you have to pay for being a supporter and not treated as a loyal customer

Price increases are a fact of life but this situation has been brewing because of our high starting point, and the average of a 5% increase across the board is above and beyond what most people will see their pay increase by. Add in to this the ridiculous short notice people have been given to renew and the removal of the fee free instalment payment plan shows we are no longer a club for the community, gone is the spirit of 86 and I don’t see when it will return!!!

Why anyone compares ticket pricing to anything other than other football clubs pricing is beyond me.
What has the price Starlight Express got to do with Championship football matches?

Just compare the ticket pricing to other football clubs and in particular Clubs that are playing in the same division as we are. That tells you everything you need to know.

This.
I wouldn't pay London prices, we go local and we chose when to go, not a random sky day or time. I refuse to pay £70+ to see bands I would love to see, I cannot justify the money, same as I cannot justify paying nearly £80+ for 2 boro tickets or £1400 for 23. I used theatre as an example, there are also meals out, comedy clubs, local bands etc. Things I chose to see and not dictated to, when I have to go. Wife is out of work, I'm long term sick, not had a pay rise in over 7 years etc etc. but back to the tickets prices... bl00dy outrageous :D

I totally understand your situation and it’s everyone’s personal choice to how they spend their own money. I just mentioned the price of a recent theatre visit as you mentioned it there’s no way I could afford it normally it was just a one off visit for a special occasion. I do think that the short window for early bird renewal is too short given our recent performances I’m sure another month would have been better. As for the price increase I think it’s bearable. I go into my local pub and the pint of lager is 25% dearer since COVID and the wife’s wine is 80% dearer. I’m not mentioning lurpack 😢 .

I particularly like that they advise us that one of the benefits of having a season ticket are having your seat reserved for the season 🤣 Oh and you get in the u21 games for free. Next they'll be telling us a benefit is having access to the ground 23 times a season and the ability to watch the jackpot draw LIVE in the stadium

The real comparison is that a venue in Stockton showing small productions with local celebrities wouldn't be charging more than the West End to see World famous productions.

I think what you really mean is that you 'want' a club announcement, not that we 'need' one.
What could they say that would make you think that the price is fine?
If they tried to justify it you would likely get angrier with their reasoning.
Any further explanation, niceties should have been already said in the original. It is too late now really.

But this is the point. Everything is more expensive than it was 3 years ago including hospitality but more importantly mortgages/rent, home energy, food, fuel etc. Genuine necessities. No ones wages is increasing by 20% over the last 3 years. So we are being squeezed. It's things like football matches, which we do for enjoyment and not necessity, that may need to be sacrificed.

On top of that we are already the most expensive club to watch in the Championship and the football has become less enjoyable over the last 12 months.
