We’re just lacking that killer ball from mf

Fair points but I'm not unhappy. Definitely something to build on and not terrible to watch
We'll be fine but won't be annoying the top 6

Not much in it tbh - depletes Watford side vs a depleted boro side. We have no real option on the bench to change it up. Grant Hall needs to sharpen up his act, he looks hungover. We weren’t that far away. If we had the four or five players we were looking to bring in that would have made the difference imo. They made changes where we couldn’t and that meant we were more tired, it stifled us. Disappointed but looking forward to the next match. IWWT

New season same issues
Loose to bad marking @ setpieces
Unable to win throw ins
Lack of movement & urgency
No composure in front of goal
Saville the new Clayton cant pass forward
Warnocks got his work cut out especially with no money.

Still lacking pace. Saville had a game to forget. Bettinelli looked secure. We only have Hall and possibly Fletcher who posed an aerial threat in their box, yet we kept swinging it in without much/any success. Morsy will hopefully tighten up the midfield but we still need more creativty. If Warnock has reservations about Fry then we need a dominant centre back as well as another striker. I'm sure Warnock knows this and will bring the players in to make us more resilient and more of a threat. Another game we should have got something out of.

If we had decent wingers to put teams on the back foot, could play Tav in the middle to push on with Morsy in the DM role.

It is what it is - we have no money, options are limited. 3 or 4 more players are needed but whether we get them is another matter. I think we matched Watford overall and they didn’t really threaten much at all. Hall should have done better, much better for their goal. There’s a long way to go and we will improve as we go on under Warnock - keep the faith UTB

We desperately need a creative midfielder, dare I say it, a Ramirez type. That was barely half a Watford team, who were ahead for 80 minutes and we struggled to break them down. We need a back up striker, an attacking midfielder and another centre back as a minimum I’d say.

Ramirez wasn’t a creative mf though (why do people keep saying this) he was an attacking mf who ran with the ball and had a shot himself he was basically a deep lying striker.

we need a creative mf with guille who can feed the front men with the supply they need a player to link up the play and yes chip in the odd goal here and there plus provide a killer free kick.

we’ve lacked this kind of player for years now and tomlin was the prob the last one to call them selves a creative attacking mf.

Difficult to judge too much on the first game. We struggled to get our wing backs into the attack and were weak defensively in the air, but appart from that there's plenty to build on. Fletcher and Britt will cause plenty of problems to poorer defenders. Conceding early with no fans meant Watford could sit back and were hard to break down.

We're having some trouble replacing Ramirez (or Tomlin for that matter) so a creative player as zorro says above is a must. It appears that Morsy is primarily a defensive mid so a possible replacement for Clayton and won't have much trouble keeping Saville (who was invisible last night) out of the team. But there are other areas where we are already very short. Clearly Warnock doesn't rate Fry whilst McNair is only a CB against poor opposition so another CB must surely be a priority. Hall looks like he can head a ball but if he defends like that we are going to ship a lot of goals. The telegraph summed our defensive performance as "the vast acres of space left by the Middlesbrough defence." Only Watford's lack of first team forwards prevented it being a much more comfortable win.

Fairly pedantic but fair enough. I’ll take a midfielder who is attacking, who scores and creates things with their passing running etc etc.

Not pedantic or I didn’t mean it to be I’m highlighting that as good a player as Ramirez was he was also ( as most forwards are) a selfish player as he wanted the shot the goal the glory.

What makes a good attacking central mf for me is the desire to set up others to be the assist maker to make others better to provide the ammunition not shoot on sight but look around and see the options ahead and pick what is best for the TEAM.

That’s a no 10 and that’s what we lack.

We're lacking in every area. Looks like Woodgate never left, watching this.

Disagree. We looked organised and like we had a plan even if we don’t quite have the players to pull it off yet. Under Woodgate we looked like conceding every time the opposition got the ball. We’ve struggled to create for years and the midfield has been woefully under invested even during Karanka’s days. We looked better when Roberts come in last year and hopefully we can get him back. Think Warnocks formation definitely suits our players more even if we don’t have the quality we need. Three players would make us competitive.

Murphy
Roberts
Ashley Williams

James Garner Man U getting great reviews , and will go out on loan , with Huddersfield , Blackburn and Millwall in for him ,
He could play in front of Morsy .
