Wayne Rooney to Plymouth?

His win ratio is about the same as just givig the job to some random boke off the street whos played champ man a few times

I've got nothing against Rooney, and I'd like Plymouth to stay up again, so I do actually hope he proves us all wrong and does a decent job.

It was the circumstances of him taking the Birmingham job that made me want him to fail, not the fact it was Wayne Rooney.

I like the fact that he wants to be a manager, despite not needing to. He’s probably already got more money than he can spend, and he’d always get media work, but seems keen to be involved and prove himself. I hope he does ok.

Plymouth have looked very poor today. Should be 4-5 down.

Early days of course, and Sheff Wed have played well. Danny Röhl has done a good job there so far.

It could be a long season (or few months) for Rooney on today’s evidence.

I will be amazed if Plymouth isn’t Rooneys last managerial job, it feels like he is the football management equivalent to Harold Shipman and geriatrics.

There was an article in the Guardian which mostly consisted of an interesting interview with the Chairman. I think they've taken a punt. It sounds like Rooney lets his coaches do training and watches on, which is such a waste of his experience. Compare that to Carrick who always seems involved.

Plymouth didn't look to have an idea of what they were supposed to be doing today. I felt sorry for the players.

I think they will give him 3 months. They will know by then if it's going to work. They had done so well in recent years it's a shame to see them looking like struggling.

My theory with Waz, and similar players, is that they had world class skills that the tactics they played with, relied upon.
If these players expect the same results from those same tactics they played under, applied to Champo and lower leagues, then isnt it always bound to fail?

The lad was world class. What a player he was, for almost 20 years. None of his players would get into the reserve team of the squads he has played in.
