Watmore better than Sporar or Connolly

And yet we are in a play off position now 🤔

All 4 strikers plus Josh will play an important part this season.

Apart from the goal Sporar was very poor again today and Connolly was even worse. We will struggle to make the play offs if these two remain first choice.

Dont get the love in for Sporar his all round game is very poor.
The key words here are 'apart from the goal'. I agree he wasn't great today and he was poor against Blackburn. But it's that bit of movement of his today into that near post area which has got us the three points (huge credit to Balogun for his work for the goal too). He's a goalscorer and his record proves that.

Think I'd go with Sporar and Balogun next game. Can't drop Sporar after scoring but I do feel for Watmore. Never should have lost his place to Connolly.
to be fair he lost his place before he arrived think Wilder picked Onel Hernández for the Forrest and Blackpool games over Watmore not sure why I think we are a much better team with him in it but Wilder is the best manager we have had in many a day so guess he knows what he is doing :)

I agree with you about Connolly however, it's early days but he has shown no composure in front of goal in the games he has played. It's incredibly harsh on Watmore who has contributed a lot for us ever since he joined.

Not only was connolly's all round play poor, thought his attitude and work rate stunk, don't think I saw him sprint all game. The little warm up they do before the start of the 2nd half, although a tiny little thing, he just tossed that off, barely lifted a leg! Speaks volumes. Balogun or watmore HAS to come in for him for me

I feel we miss Watmores' high pressing when he's out of the team, although I accept he has missed some sitters. Coventry were able to play it out from the back and dominate possession for large spells of the game today.

Definitely would have him above Connolly in the pecking order right now.

Hopefully Connolly will come good but on the performances so far Watmore deserves to be ahead of him.

Wilder spoke highly of the Coventry centre forward after the match and he was very good but Uche can offer us some if not all the things he showed today.

It seems strange that we are going with four pretty similar forwards. Josh Coburn isn’t ready to lead the line in a promotion chasing championship team.

I think he was resting Watmore then. He's definitely given Connolly every opportunity to stake a claim to start - I don't think he has taken it and will start on the bench at Old Trafford/Loftus Rd.

That QPR game is now very big indeed - I suppose it was always going to be.

Uche is nothing like Gyokeres. Wilder has a mould that his strikers need to fit and Uche doesn't fit that, he can't close down, that is an absolute must in a Wilder side.

I'm convinced the only reason Watmore has been dropped is because his injury troubles mean he can only do it for 60 minutes.

Agree Watmore has been unlucky, as a few missed sitters apart he has been excellent. I thought he would come on for the last few minutes to give them something to think about.

All our forwards seem to struggle to get to the ball in front of defenders and hold onto it once they have it. When we do that we will start battering teams. Watmore's energy and workrate are what should have him in the team at the minute

Connelly doesn’t look like he is grasping the opportunity with both hands. Not a look in at Brighton and come here when we’re playing well in a decent team full of confidence. He would have been terrible when we weren’t great the last couple of seasons.
Having said that I think he’s trying to hard for a goal. That chance first hslf he should have put back on the six yard box.
Watmore back in for me. The other team flap and make mistakes because he doesn’t give you a minute.

Only very big if we still have hopes of an automatic place. If they beat us then its more less a play off place we have to settle for

Too many balls were hoofed up as if we had a 6'8" striker and none of our players benefitted. For me we miss Watmore's pace and energy and I'm struggling to see what Connelly is offering. 2 from 3 of Watmore. Sporar and Balogun for me in the next match.

Anyone get the feeling that both Sporar and Connelly were using each other's space? Apart from the shot by Connelly [which he side-footed incidentally] both strikers seemed to be operating on the right side of the goal-- almost like they're being played close together for whatever reason. Then as soon as Balogan was introduced we score from a move started and ended on the left. I just don't understand where CW is playing both the strikers [ ie. one with withdrawn? one central?]-- it's confusing.
