In South Yorkshire at the moment and it's teeming down and blowing a hoolie. What's it like in Boro over the next 24 hours and is there a risk of the game getting called off?
Rain is pretty heavy and is planned all day but drainage at the Riverside has always been good so would be surprised if it was abandoned for waterlogged pitch. In South Yorkshire at the moment and it's teeming down and blowing a hoolie. The whole pitch was re-laid with new drainage and latest technology during the summer.Rain is pretty heavy and is planned all day but drainage at the Riverside has always been good so would be surprised if it was abandoned for waterlogged pitch.

“Forgot” to cover the pitch against Coventry once during a cold spell. Just happened to be during an injury crisis. Seem to remember Ricard was injured but then fit again for the rearranged game and scored! Can’t remember many games being postponed at the riverside? Maybe for snow making roads and walkways to the ground unsafe but nothing pitch related? May be wrong but we seem, as we did at Ayresome Park, to have top grounds people looking after the pitch.
seem to remember something similar with the Geordies very annoyed that a game was called off as he "approach to the stadium" was unsafe during a cold snap - Just happened to coincide with a big injury crisis if i recall.“Forgot” to cover the pitch against Coventry once during a cold spell.
Middlesbrough's refusal to install undersoil heating at their £20m Riverside Stadium rebounded on them when last night's Premiership match against Coventry was called off six hours before kick-off because the pitch was frozen.
amp.theguardian.com
Indeed a most fortuitous coincidence...Just happened to coincide with a big injury crisis if i recall.
I don't need you to know which way the wind blows.High winds will drop by 3-4am tonight, tomorrows game will have no issues - maybe a breeze with some patchy rain.

Yes, that was the home match v Millwall game on August 5th, the terrible summer weather when the kids were off. People were thinking the match might be called off but they did actually water it before kickoff. Maybe they should have called it off as we lost 1.0!We had this recently and when supporters arrived in the stands they were 'watering' the pitch!
