to be fair to Neil and his assessment of defenders, he did say that Sol Bamba is a better defender than Virgil Van Dyke.
i do like his openness and perhaps honesty, but as i said in a previous thread, his not always correct.
This observation might ingratiate him with the fans who have never had a good word to say about Boro's recruitment department, but it smacks as bit of Gordon Strachan to me.

The best defenders make it look effortless, usually because they read the game so well, and they don't end up in dangerous 1:1 situations
Gary Pallister springs to mind
And Sir GarethBobby Moore was the greatest at that, a superb tackler and reader of the game. Maddren and Woodgate were brilliant at that as well.
