Visit to UK (and Boro)

On Saturday I'm finally coming back to the UK for the first time before the pandemic. I've got my vaccination certificate and proof of a day 2 test. I can't help still feeling a bit nervous about it. I'm still half expecting something to go wrong. I'm also a bit nervous about simply being there. Here in Spain the virus is very much under control and restrictions are being relaxed very slowly. We are still wearing masks all the time indoors and about 90% of over 12s are vaccinated. We have less than 2000 cases per day. From what I can gather its very different there. I really want to go to the Birmingham match but I guess nobody wears masks. Am I being paranoid?

Are there any restrictions visiting the training ground? We are staying in Hurworth so it seems too good a chance to miss. If I decide to go to the match, what do I need? Vaccination certificate?

What's it like getting petrol now? It is not in the news anymore so I'm guessing its OK. Anything else I should be aware of?

If you decide to go to the Birmingham match you will find that almost no one is wearing a mask. For that reason I scurry through the concourse like Diego Simeone leaving the scene of a defeat. You should be able to sit well away from other people if you want to, just choose the extremes of the West or East stands towards the corners. Once in your seat you should be as safe as you can be.

I don't think it is possible to visit the Hurworth training complex currently (presumably as half the numpty players haven't been vaccinated)?

Petrol/diesel at least hereabouts isn't an issue. Not sure about darn sarf.

If you are double jabbed you are unlikely to be at risk.

Regarding mask wearing - it's like COVID never happened in England now. Some do wear them but the vast majority don't bother. Otherwise, there's a charlatan government in place led by the ultimate charlatan Johnson. Lack of some food in shops, sky high energy prices and a general population apathetic towards the evidence in front of them. At least Boro have started winning though!

Welcome home

Having returned from New York at the end of July, I'm still, to some extent, struggling with the general apathy to Covid safety here. Like Muttley, I hurry through the concourse and hang back for a few minutes at then end to let it clear out a bit.

Hmmmmm...............had words with my mate last night about encouraging conversation from people passing in and out at half time. The feel of small droplets of someone else's saliva landing on your face as they speak about 6 inches from your face engenders a greater concern than it used to 🤢. If I haven't caught it after that I never will.😐

Just hold your breath like I do. :giggle:

We appear to have rampant cases as we find more of them through mass testing than the number of tests being carried out in Spain, but the kicker is that everything else Spain is doing - Masks better vaccine roll out is keeping the mortality rate down far far better than in the UK.

I've been to the Riverside twice this season and kept my mask on in the concourse but then took it off in the seat as me and my mate were quite a way from anyone else.

Petrol issues never hit the NE like it did in London which made it a NATIONAL!!!! issue.

Just go and enjoy if its possible to watch a Warnock team and enjoy it.

Not many wear masks but I still do. More for my family's sake than my own. You just need to be sensible and careful and not do anything daft. Not difficult to do that in a half empty stadium.

Where I live in N Yorks practically everyone still wears mask in supermarkets, surgeries, chemists and most of the other premises I could name. Distancing is also still in evidence so people here have certainly not forgotten about Covid.

Great time to come back, Autumn has arrived and the weather is finally getting crispier - proper Yarm fair weather (21st to 23rd Oct)
