Virgin Media & Broadband

Never used them before, been with Sky for 25 years now but for a multitude of reasons I'm looking to leave when my contract ends next month.

I'm looking to use the Virgin Media in much the same was as Sky Q; on demand channels, ability to record programs etc and if possible have multiroom - is that possible on Virgin Media at all? Cheers.

Yeah I've been with Virgin for 3 years and it does everything that sky does. Their ultimate oomph bundle or whatever its called now it great. Was £79 when started with them for 2 boxes, landline, 1TB broadband and an unlimited mobile sim. Have only paid £54 for the last year though as didn't need the sim (£25/month) which they removed and took off the bill. Don't think I'll get to keep that price though when it comes to renew.

I was with virgin right back to the ntl days left earlier this year due to constant increases on the bill. Only had broadband with them and took them a long time to let me remove the phone line which was never used.
Now with Youfibre and haven't ever had any down time or issues.

Just call them to cancel at renewal time - I just got my broadband renewed on an 18 month contract for £31.

I got an email about a year ago to renew at the same price I was paying, £54 but wouldn't let me renew online. When I called up they said they said the best they could do was £79, which is the new customer price, but as I had the email from them offering it at £54, they honoured it. Hopefully I'll get the same e-mail again at renewal time.

We couldn't wait to leave Virgin. Only had broadband with them and it was awful. Main reason I was leaving was the reliability of the service, and they did nothing to try to sort it. Ran some tests said everything was okay and do I want to buy some WiFi extenders.

Phoned up to cancel, said okay, very little in the way of tempting me to stay then week before disconnection they started calling me with offers.

Not impressed at all.

I moved from Sky and BT to Virgin after somewhere approaching 30 years.

I’m saving a significant amount but I do feel the TV offering is inferior to Sky.

I'd avoid Virgin. Worse customer service in the world. Everything is hard work with them. Payed for PPV events and the quality has been shocking and they won't even consider a partial refund. Really frustrating company to deal with.

My Virgin box in my last house was crap compared to Sky Q, so I was glad in the new house when I could get sky Q.

Sacked sky off for the broadband though, as their routers are dogshit. Went with Vodafone for broadband and got a wifi 6 mesh for miles cheaper, and it's the nuts.

Try putting your postcode into cityfibres website to see if you can get other fibre companies apart from the mainstream ones.

I've just signed up to Octaplus with 4k streaming TV channels and 900mb internet for £36.

Virgin said they can't come anywhere close to matching it when I left, even the retention department said the same.

Worth a look.

In what way
Pretty much all the major isps have user crippled not very configurable routers. If you buy your own better spec router or mesh system you can connect to the isp router in modem mode effectively meaning your isp router settings are bypassed and network controls come from your own router device. Why would you do this more configurable for things like game servers iot devices , superior wifi strength, better stability and speed.

My recommendation would be see if youfibre or cityfibre are in your area. I have 2000mbs youfibre and the router they provide is an absolute beast, an asus wfi 6e device which has no proprietary isp controls on

Just cancelled my Virgin contract today and switched to Community Fibre. Too many band width problems with the Broadband which I rely on with working from home.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to bite the bullet and head over to Virgin, cancelled my Sky contract last night. Hopefully I don't regret it!
