Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

We need to think about our reputation - not just for developing and improving players, but also “playing ball” when premier league bids do come in for players.

It’s definitely something that the agents of these young players will be aware of
This is a very good point.

I'm a big fan of Rogers - I think he will develop into a very good player. I would have liked it to be with us, but when we can make a significant profit in a few months it makes total sense to cash in. If we are going to buy young players on their way up then we have to accept that we sell them when bigger clubs come calling. Other young players will see this and be more likely to move here as a stepping stone (see RVB).

I am a bit gutted by the timing as I think he was key to how we would play against Chelsea. We need to fit on the break and one of his strengths is getting us up the pitch quickly.

Exactly sure you build a team first
But building that team is easier if someone is offering you good money for a lad who may not even be in it!

And we don’t know what the club are doing behind the scenes. This move may allow them to sign a really good striker. Add that to Azaz, Crooks, McGree, Jones, Forss, Silvera, Coburn, Latte Lath and Greenwood and that looks good to me.

I would love to see Rogers fulfil his potential with us but let’s be honest, if he starts to look like doing that then he’s going to be off once the money from the league above is on the table.

Don't think he'll ever be as good as ramsey quicker no stronger yes creates more chances no

Do you think there's the slightest chance that one of the most successful managers in the game at the moment Unai Emery and his team of scouts might know what they're doing?
Look at the stats, Rogers has created far more chances per game than Ramsey did. Whether he's quicker or not is debatable, but I feel he's stronger running at people than Ramsey.
Ramsey was a very good for us, but I do think at times we lionise a player who only played 11 games for us, during a time when the team was incredibly dominant.
Mind you, if Rogers goes, we might just get another look at Ramsey!

Brighton don’t sell after 4 months though.

As I say not this player but the fact we’d do this.

Who next ??? Dieng dvb Riley ???
I do understand this Jedi and am with you but we are not a premier league club and even most of them are a selling club.

I feel our stand point will be one of strength, he contracted and we don't want to lose him but for the right price everyone is available if it means we can get another specific target.

I honestly think Riley and Hackney will be off in the summer if we are not promoted but again we can get a price that suites us as they are contracted to us.

We also want to showcase we can develop players and won't stand in there way if an opportunity to test yourself at a higher level comes along.

I will be very sad to see morgan go if this happens but trust that it makes sense to the club and we can move on and would wish he all the best as he seems a top bloke with lots of potential.

Ramsey is a Burnley player and whilst he is a good player as you mentioned, he's basically made of toffee, always seems to pick up an injury, that ships sailed IMO

The report says villa are sailing close to their ffp limit so not sure what type of fee they are looking at. Do I not like that!

It would show a total lack of ambition from the club to sell him 6 months into a 4 year contract.

You don’t develop a player for 6 months and sell him at the first offer. You don’t see other clubs who are chasing promotion or play-offs selling talent off. Sunderland have had multiple offers for Clarke but held firm.

Talk of us getting £10m is laughable, it would be more like £6m.

Tell Villa to come back in the summer.
