Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

I feel like if Azaz was a replacement for Rogers, this would have been communicated and agreed at the time of signing Azaz and we wouldn't be at a point of just rejecting their offers ASAP.

Man City paid £4m for Rogers and they want their money back.. we paid £1.5m and they have a 20% clause in the contract.
£12.5m gives Man City their money back (also the amount it ends up being when we quote £15m) that leaves boro with £10m
minus the £2.5m we paid for his replacement Finn Azaz equals £7.5m.. the money that was being talked about the striker we were linked with Brandon Vasquez

I know its not a simple as that.. but with broad brush strokes the point would be.. Morgan Rogers is being sold to fund a striker.

He's not in the top 6 in the Championship. But we do have one Boro player in there 👀. SCA90 (Shot creating actions per 90 mins)

FBRef gives a list of top 6 for some reason. Morgan Rogers has SCA90 = 4.95 so can't be far outside that list. Would think he's top 10

He could be but he'll never be worth £100m unless he performs at PL level so unless Boro get there this season and he then performs instantly in the league with Boro we won't see anywhere near £100m
 
Rogers underlying stats are very good. We know transfers are very much data-driven these days so no wonder Villa are interested. Which is another reason for us to stick to a high valuation.

Not sure we are willing to sell him, but if the price is right the lad will go unfortunately, I had the opinion early on his passing was off and let the ball roll a few more strides on front of him when running with it, he seems to glide across the pitch and has been the standout player up top this season. Credit goes to the scouts for bringing him in but unfortunately we do the same thing and pick the best players from other sides in our division. Seems like a decent lad also.

Rogers is #12 a similar list I've found - Azaz was #7 on the list I found though so slightly different.

Interestingly, Azaz is #1 for live-passes that lead to a shot.

Our objectives are different to villas.

We need promotion and we need to sell players at a profit.

If Azaz can bring in a similar Championship contribution and at the same time we bring in our £10m to stay afloat.. then we’re doing well.

No point keeping hold of a £50m player in the championship.. staying stuck in the championship and struggling financially.
