Villa Attendance

3rd round of FA cup always was magical, especially looking forward to an obscure away day somewhere.
I can completely see why they've sold their allocation/ got more.
5.30 ko is a great time for a day sesh away day, and they're flying, it's their only game in 12 days etc
However..
5.30 ko for a match we're likely to get mullered in ( see Brighton last year ) with another more important game a few days later, and it's on the telly, are all against the home team.

Financially, that additional game for two adults and kids is £60 to 100 minimum all in.
If you have to choose an additional game to miss, it'd be this.

Hard to say with MFC and their numbers.
They seemed to imply that only 28.5k seats are available.
Probably academic in the end, but 5.5k seats for segregation?
Is that 28.5k seats in total or excluding villa fans, think they had 4500 so would be about 1000 segregation, which would make sense. However as you say, never know what the club are doing

They normally include away fans in their numbers.
Only 1000 segregation would be unprecedented in recent years.

There are a number of problems getting Boro fans up for the Villa match in my opinion -

We have a home Carabao semi final tie with Chelsea next week, that is a much bigger match.

We are very short of players due to injuries, so unlikely to be competitive against Villa.

Villa are unlikely to field their first team so you won’t be seeing the proper flying Villa team.

Villa with all respect not the same as a Man U or Liverpool.

Our main target has to be the play offs, in that respect the match is meaningless because we are too early in the Cup to be thinking of Wembley visits.

People skint after Xmas and the match is on the telly.

I think anything around 25k will be a very good attendance.

Why are we becoming obsessed with attendances like a certain team up the road?

It is what it is, people have their own reasons for not attending whether it be travel, the price of the tickets, the kick off times, financial status, our somewhat poor form at the moment (we are certainly not flying when we were trying to catch the blades last season)

Im a season card holder but currently out of work so paying out for 2 cup tickets in the space of 4 days was never going to be an option especially when i can watch them both in the comfort of my home for free

Does make you wonder though how many Villa would have brought up if we had said how many tickets would you like

They always sold out when we played them in the Championship

Not sure Villa have always turned out but putting that to one side I agree we have seemed to develop an obsession about attendances instead of just accepting some leagues, cup games and opposition teams are more attractive than others.

I remember them having a very noisy following one year , maybe the deathrolls of us in the prem ..
" Paul McGrath my lord .. Paul McGrath... Ohhhh lord .... Paul McGrath..
Empty seats my lord ...Etc etc "

It went on for ages

Have they taken tickets off sale for this one on-line? Not showing for me.
Yes they've disappeared for me too.
Went in under "incognito mode" and they were still showing which is strange.

Won't help any last minute ticket sales.

I would reckon that the bigger hits on attendance are the fact it's at 5:30 pm live on BBC rather than the price. Villa probably shifted more than usual because they are doing well and tickets for away games probably difficult to get hold of now?

As well as:

The Chelsea match being 3 days later meaning people are shelling out twice in quick succession

Likely to see two weakened teams.

If we'd not been playing Chelsea on Tuesday it would have been a no brainer but decided to give it a miss due to the fact I think it'll be two weakened sides and I don't really want to pay that sort of money to watch the kids. Hoping to get to the away leg of the Semi so something had to give.

Looking at the space left for Chelsea fans, and the size of their allocation, I think it looks as if the segregation is going to be smaller than usual.

Haven't looked at the Villa plan as closely

They probaly put on the system the game was 5:30 Friday night 😂 will be some loss in sales though assume a few hundred tickets get sold the night and morning of the match

Think i am going to get a ticket in the morning , i reside in Manchester these days, and i have a very good cup record on my Visits ,Apart from the Cardiff game under Southgate.
