Villa Attendance

£25 for a (top 4 likely) Premier League opponent for an adult ticket seems about right to me and for most Boro fans its only £20. I would guess its about the same price as the Man United game in 2002 since which inflation has pushed general prices up by around 60%.

As said if going to the theatre its about £27 for a tribute act with no or tiny concessions.

Obviously the game been on BBC and with the Chelsea game three days later will knock about 8k off the gate.
If it knocks 8k off the gate it's not priced right.

All part of the erosion of the working class in football. It has a great deal to do with the lack of atmosphere at our and other grounds around the country.

"It's only an extra fiver" is an easy remark to make when you are earning South East salaries, simply not the case for many on Teesside.
Well said.

I’m not saying this game has been priced correctly or not but I don’t think it is an exact equation.

I think there are other factors, particularly for season ticket holders and televised games, when it comes to Cup matches such as travelling, family time and partners wanting to do something different with the time, additional costs no matter how small with food and beer often involved as well, premier league managers fielding weakened teams and low chances of progressing very far.

The Cup third round isn’t what it was 40 odd years ago.

No it definitely isn't what it was years ago, all the more reason for the club to price it right to try and get fans through the gates. They haven't done that which is a shame, especially as the club should be getting some money for it being a televised fixture on the BBC. It will be disappointing to see loads of empty seats live on BBC1 Saturday night. Just after xmas and a semi final days later, I don't know what they were thinking.

I think the pricing should be considerate but I’m not sure there wouldn’t have been a lot of empty seats no matter what the pricing.

I have a friend from work whose son is a Villa fan coming up from down south tomorrow and when I mentioned to him the other day that I thought the crowd might not be very good he immediately said well in fairness your big match is just a few days later. I think the attitudes are the same everywhere.

The club have got this horribly wrong again. Early January and most Teesside folk are skint post Xmas and 3 home games in a row.

Gibbo's obsession with the season ticket model bites him in the posterior. There are lots of options for the cup games but as is his want non season ticket holders must be treated as second class citizens and pay more. TV does not help but it seems plenty of STH's are voting with their feet.

Twenty is plenty !
Reckon it shows the complete opposite to be honest. It shows, and the sluggish sales of the semi-final tickets show even more, that this idea we have a massive well of casual support who will turn up given half a chance is a myth.

York charge £22 in the national league. It’s not price. These people aren’t interested. They don’t exist. Our core support is our regular support. Wembley finals apart they are right to focus on that.

That’s the calculation. if you knock the price down by a quarter you need to get a third more in the ground just to break even. You wouldn’t. Those fans aren’t there.

Having over half the squad missing is not helping sell tickets at present, which is a completely non price related factor.

Time taken off to go to games is nothing to do with price or playing in the evening making longer distance travel difficult.

Offering tickets well below National League prices say £15 is pointless, if trying to raise revenue to say generate revenue for new signings/loans. To me offering a £20 ticket anywhere in the stadium should be low enough to entice a season ticket holder to see a Premier League team. New season ticket holder are paying around £26.50 to see a Championship team (if they attend every league game and we are averaging 26k Boro fans every game).

Still not on sale on the website.
I've got mine but rang reception at 9am to inform them they should look at problem.
Lady who answered said ticket office opens at 10 and maybe they are all sold out!

I assured her they weren't and told her to contact ticket office as matter of priority as people can't buy tickets. She said she would look into into it.

Very poor show from MFC

Vicky Sparkes, who is commentating on the game for the BBC tonight, is on R5 Live talking about the game. She has done her homework on us. I love BBC Sounds being able to listen to it across the world.
