we did. We've got 14 senior pros. back in 2017 we had 24, that's excluding the kids on the fringe like Fry, Tav, and Pears.

I have no issue about the kids being involved in youth games, then maybe 1 or 2 becoming proper 1st team squad options. But this is different, they will be on the bench next week, 5 or 6 of them

We had 21 outfield players listed in the 2017/18 squad, when we had parachute payments.
That's 7 more than in the squad that we've just announced.

We sold Alex Baptiste to QPR before the season started, and Guedioura was injured but still given a squad number, he didn't play his first game until the 30th December.
Tavernier only played 200 minutes before being loaned out to MK Dons (he wasn't a "senior pro").
Connor Roberts only played 3 cup games and 1 league game before going back to Swansea (also wasn't really a "senior pro - he was only 20).

That brings us down to 17.

We didn't really have Braithwaite either, as he played the first game that season and then threw his toys out the pram and didn't play again until mid-October.

Since I took Tav/Roberts away, we'll take Boyd-Munce away too to make it more even... We're actually only 3 players away.

And like I said in my very first post, which seems like ages ago now.... Smith + 2 Strikers.

I wonder if anyone else is having a problem with spelling Gyorkeres name. I only ask because for the last 7 or 8 pages I cant see any mention of him

long term injury is something that could happen to anyone in our squad this season. So lets call it 6 more.

I didn't include tavernier and the fact Roberts barely played is irrelevant, he was still part of the squad, obvisouly with a bigger squad some players will barely play

We did have Braithwaite, again falling ot of favour is part of having teh bigger squad.

We are about 6 players away. which would mean increasing our senior pro squad by ~36%

It's just managers preference. Monk chose to add Guedioura to the squad knowing he was injured for 6 months. Wilder is choosing not to add Fisher to our squad... It doesn't mean there's an extra player because that player isn't going to play.

Same with youth players, Monk chose to add some, so have most other managers, but Wilder is choosing not to.

I agree we're light, I just don't think we're as light as most are making out.

Well we're certainly light at least 2 CFs, and first choice ones.

Were a body light in CM, 4 choices for 3 slots is risky

We're also a body short at CB with 4 options for 3 spots.

We only have one RB right now, unless Smith is about to sign.
