Very memorable bass lines

Kaya, Bob Marley.

I'm a Man, Chicago.

Out on the Tiles, Led Zeppelin.

Amelia, Joni Mitchell. Actually, most of the Hejira album.

"Stepping Out" Joe Jackson. It's synthesised but hypnotic nonetheless.

Graham Maby Joe’s longtime bassist played it live on stage. Until Joe later rearranged into a slow ballad. Which he reckoned it was meant to be…but escaped into the version we all know.
He’s been playing it ballad like for a few years now.

Yeah, I've seen it played live and it's great. I can scarce contain my excitement that I'm going to see him again in the Autumn and he promises 1st half of show is greatest hits on the piano and second half is new (and properly imaginative) album with full band. Bring it on.

They've been mentioned a couple of times already - testament to how good Derek Forbes is - but Simple Minds: Glittering Prize
Forgot him off my list, which is unforgiveable. A lot of his stuff you think is guitar.

Also in that vein Stuart Morrow of New Model Army. Outstanding.

Speed King - Deep Purple.
Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth) - Metallica.
N.I.B. - Black Sabbath.
