Is it worth a visit. Probably for three days. Thinking of going during international break.

Or my other thought was to go the other way and have a look at Murcia which I understand is a University to so may be has decent nightlife.

Absolutely beautiful city. I was there for 3 days just 2 years ago. You could spend a whole day at Oceanograpfic, a huge sea life centre which is housed in several spectacular modern buildings in a large park. Nearby is the City of Arts & Sciences. I'd suggest getting a two day Red Bus Hop on-off ticket to get around as it's a large city. There's also the Mestella (since you're a football fan!) If you get the bus ticket you'll also pass the new stadium which has been unfinished for several years because the money ran out.

Off there in April for 3 nights
It’s been highly recommended
Oh, and a great city to cycle around too apparently

Went a few years ago for the European F1 GP. Beautiful city, plenty to see and do for two or three nights and a fantastic beach.

My favourite city, Great to walk around, fabulous bars and restaurants in Russafa, had some of the best meals of my life in different places, great live music in Bar Loco. I love it.

I stayed there when we played Villarreal with my wife and we loved it. Easy enough to get around and plenty of good restaurants.

We always talk of going back.

Edit: we went to one restaurant which had a full glass floor and Roman ruins underneath it. The atmosphere was excellent.

It's a city I've been meaning to visit, too. They diverted the river and turned it into a big public park

Super place. There was a huge river running through it, but it was diverted due to flooding. Unlike over here where it no doubt would have been turned into housing, the City have kept it for leisure so there's a gorgeous green lung of cycling/walking/gardens/opera house etc right down the middle of the city. Great vibe too

We were there for a day whilst on a cruise. I liked it.

Running through the middle of the city is long and widish green park, which is rather pleasant, and may help you get around if you hired bikes. It stretches almost all the whole length of the city. You can see it on any map. I cant remember ever seeing anything quite like that in any other city that I have been to.

It was not far off 40 degrees C when I was there, so too hot to travel around and too hot to cycle. The city centre has some old nice historic buildings, and as mentioned above the modern museums are very impressive indeed from the outside (we did not go in)

We spent most of the time in an airconditioned restaurant eating Paella. It was too hot to got outside for very long., so I feel like I missed a lot of what was there. So I would say don't go in the height of summer for this reason.

Think about the climate stats for the two provinces.

I believe that depending on the time of year you go Murcia will be warmer with less rainfall. At other times of year the rainfall can be the other way around.

My favourite city behind Malaga. Went last year, Valencia V Getafe and Levante V Sporting Gijon. It is a city of contrast. The old town hall and square, where the fireworks are set off from if you go at the time of the Fallas. The modern area with science and arts museum and a bit further on from there is the beach and seafront bars. All joined together by the spine of the city, through the gardens, need to get a bike or scooter to truly appreciate the city.😁
