I heard on a radio advert yesterday for a cruise about Covid secure vaccinated guests only, so it’s definitely in motion

Excellent point, I received an official document to confirm I had my first dose of vaccine and it was nothing that couldn't be knocked up illegitimately.
Always someone out there to make a fast book but conversely there will also be people willing to pay for it. TBF it should be put onto your passport profile which would be highlighted at passport control.

I know Greece has been forcefully advocating an official EU vaccine passport as they hope to capture tourists in the summer. Seems to be some reticence from the rest of the group.

Can't see it happening. As mentioned it was apparently conspiracy theory last year.

We'll have 'pandemic firefighters' next.

The international "yellow book" for vaccinations has been a thing for decades. They're still in use, mainly for yellow fever, but some countries also require then for polio and meningitis.

I can't see any reason why they won't be used in just the same way for Covid-19.

The WHO had been working with a number of countries and tech firms for a while now, on creating a digital "smart vaccination certificate" and that will probably have received new impetus with this novel coronavirus.

I think longer term this is a good idea, but short term could lead to private vaccinations happening quicker, which I'm not sure seems to be the right thing when lots of countries are struggling to afford the current vaccines

I woud imagine for international travel you will need a certificate of vaccination for the next few years. Once the treatments and vaccinations are generally available and people are not dying excessively it may be relaxed.

Countries are entitled to control their borders as they see fit.

Sure. Anything that gets people travelling. There needs to be a global standard and plan though.

Testing still has a place though. I can get a lamp (spit) test once a week for free at work. It was designed for flight crew but has been rolled out to engineering.

Download the app, scan the box, scan the tube, spit in the tube and results emailed and uploaded to the app within 3 hours. It’s that simple, picks up asymptomatic cases and is approved by the WHO. You even get a QR code in the app to scan to allow you to fly, enter areas etc.

For the UK makes greats sense and should be part of your passport recorded on the chip as well as printed page to remind you what jabs you have had and when they need renewing, it may have to wait until we have all had the initial jabs for Covid but certainly something I'd be in favour of going forward to open up the world again.

How they roll it out over Schengen countries and the Irish border without reopening passport controls would be problematic I think insurers as well as governments will push for it and it makes sense to protect yourself as much as possible.

I wonder if the poll results / score, reflects the attitude of people who will take the vaccine & those that won't ;-)

If we start allowing people to travel like we did pre covid levels who havent had vaccines, we will be back in the same position within a few years.

Vaccine stamp -- a bit like a visa -- if you don't get the stamp you don't travel. The Covid PCR test is similar -- have to show the official test results to the check-in and passport control now so I'm sure the vaccine certificate will be the same. However, it doesn't mean you can't travel without the vaccine-- just prove you're Covid Negative.

How will they come into use though?
My wife has had the first dose of the Oxford vaccine and all she got was a credit card size card with a reminder date on and a couple of logos which I could replicate on a fairly basic laptop in minutes.

Are your NHS records updated after the vaccine?
