US of A

NY Boro - arghhhhhhhh it’s not pay check ! .................It’s payslip . Sorry it’s just the little things such as back yard being a back garden and fall being autumn .

Ooh I feel another thread coming on 🤓

I don't get the problem, it's another country and their language differs from ours. It IS a pay check 'cos that's what it's called here. Just as it's a sidewalk and an elevator. I can imagine an American moving to Middlesbrough and calling out anyone saying pavement or correcting the spelling of "cheque" wouldn't last long with a full set of teeth. Works both ways in my opinion, different courses for different horses.

What about people in the area saying' like' ? That's no better.
Also, apart from loo roll I've noticed no shortage of food and I'm in the NYC area.
There is talk of meat processing plants having to close down and that would be an issue as there are only a few mega-plants in the USA.
Trump isn't great but to those of you in the UK , look at the UK govt first.

I'm fully aware of what he said and his policies as they are directly impacting my life .
I was trying to use British understatement in my post.
His issue is that he has been using his briefings as a ' think aloud' and obviously it's starting to back-fire.
With regards to the spelling of words, many were changed by someone called Webster who deliberately wanted to make American English look different from UK English.
Just like the Collins dictionary is standard in the UK the Webster dictionary is standard in the USA

We can see that they're both ridiculous but even the clown Johnson is outshone by the lunatic that is Trump.

I don't disagree with you.
I hold an American passport and I vote in the USA.
People have their reasons for voting for him just like people in the. UK voted for brexit.
It can be hard to understand why from the outside.

In the case of brexit, it's even harder to understand from the inside .
