Up and coming defenders

England have abundant riches in midfield, it's pretty immense. Obviously Jude Bellingham is key but we have 6 or 7 world class players around him.

I worry about the defence, in the short to mid term. It's a very aging group. I don't watch a lot of Prem games, but are there any young defenders coming up that could step up (apart fro Geuhi)?

Like I said yesterday although unproven at this level Dunk does look to have potential - he has pally vibes to me.
Potential?? He's 31yo. Don't think he is the answer

Levi Colwill coming in to partner Stones would be the obvious one who you would hope will kick on to be a top international

Stones and Colwill for the next 3 or 4 years would be my preference. No idea after that.

Having said that, I don’t recall Maguire having many bad games for England. Although maybe his lack of pace limits how high we can press etc

Colwill is the obvious one I think coming through.

Branthwaite at Everton and Harwood-Bellis at City (loan at Southampton) are 2 other 'promising' CB's.

Geuhi
Jarell Quansah at Liverpool is highly thought of
Callum Doyle at City
and I wouldn't rule Nathan Wood out now that he's playing regularly.

Centre back I’m much less worried about than central mid. I totally understand Southgate sticking with a tried and tested partnership, and eventually he will replace Maguire with one of the other CBs. Could still be a few years off.

Southgate doesn't seem to rate Tomori for some reason. Never gets a look in.
I've not seen a great deal of him but I've never really seen him play well. I know his stats and form look good, he definitely has a rick in him though.
Maybe he has the wrong attitude?! He's 25 and playing in Serie A for AC so he must have some top qualities.
