Uniquely Boro Songs

You'll get a boot,
wrapped round yer head,
You'll get a boot wrapped round your head.

Was definately in the Holgate by the early 70's
Wasn't a hit until the early 80s, possibly end of the 70s.

We started singing it in the Liberal Club, next door to the Rock Garden. Loads of Punks and Skins sat down doing that daft dance.

The song then got sang around the country by the Rock Garden Travel Club/Block 2:The Bob End Crew.

The 2nd verse was either a 10 eye or 10 high in the eye.

Which was what we called 10 eyelet Docs.

Who's that copper with the helmet on?
Dixon Dixon
Who's that copper with the helmet on
Dixon of Dock green
On the beat all day
On the wife all night
Who's that copper with the helmet on
Dixon of Dock green

They don't write em like that anymore...... thank goodness
Haven't heard that, since I don't know when? 👍

Just remembered one
They call us Middlesboro,
We are the kings of the land,
And here's to Eric McMordie,
With Irish caps in his hand

We're better than Man United,
Were better than Liverpool too,
And if you don't believe us,
You must be a Sunderland jew, Hugh, Hugh Mcilmoyle. Hugh, Hugh McIlmoyle

Not heard that before

‘There’s gonna be a nasty accident’
’Your going home in a Teesside ambulance’ 😁

’You should have come in a taxi‘…was that one ours?

Just remembered another Bob End classic...

To the turn of Johnny Comes Marching Home, circa 1979.

1st verse

The Holgate go marching 10 by 10 hurrah, hurrah (etc.)
The Holgate gor marching 10 by 10, when fighting breaks out, they'll run again
Na-nah-nah, na-nah, na-la (etc)

2nd verse

Clive Road go marching 6 by 6 (etc.)
with long leather macs
And fecking big sticks.

3rd and final verse.

The Bob End go marching without any fuss
hurrah, hurrah

The Bob End go marching without any fuss
hurrah, hurrah

The Bob End go marching without any fuss
Cos we're fecking clever and we've got the suss
Na-nah-nah, na-nah
Na-na, na-nah, na-nah

WSO sung by us for years and very rarely, only in unique situations. We had some of the French songs way before Leeds and Man utd and their love in with Cantona, but usually sung by the Frontline and had Hooli twist rather than players twist, I remember definitely when we got knocked of the FaCup by PNE in 1987 that Le Marseille was booming out of the end of the South Terrace as well as the French Nursey Rhyme Frere Jacques where the lyrics were changed to English and the only words I could understand where ' we will knack you'
Are you taking about Frere Jacque?

"Oh, I love your clammy clout" .

That song preceded Cantona by a country mile.

Not sure there was any other French songs, unless you're talking about a more recent era.
