Don't know if anyone is getting these wherever you live. Yet more expensively produced pre-election flyers through our door over the weekend, the blue background on them the only clue they're from the Tory party. All worded as if our local Labour council are picking on the nice, young men they're trying to get elected - 'Stephen your local campaigner vs Labour' etc.

Now, I can well understand them being ashamed to brand their junk mail - they are after all the government of foodbanks, partying while people died, the stripping down of the NHS, national strikes etc etc. But it's the attempted deception I cannot stomach. Mind you, it is the Tories.

Yeah we got one saying council tax was up 35% since 2016

No mention that inflation in that time was 28% and council budgets slashed by tens of millions whilst adult social care costs skyrocket.

They do loads of weasel stuff like this. They're always voting to reduce councillor allowances knowing that it will get voted down so they can call councillors greedy, yet could voluntarily hand theirs back if they wanted to, but of course they don't.

Said on the thread about them removing their party name on Twitter - been getting at least 2/3 Tory leaflets a week
One last week had in big red letters 38 per cent increase in tax due to Labour and only the tiniest writing at the very bottom saying it was a Conservative Party leaflet. This is a deliberate ploy that they are choosing to use
 
Conmen trying to con. Unfortunately it'll work on the gullible or those just not paying enough attention.

What does it say about the state of our country that our governing party is effectively ashamed of its own record to such an extent its now trying to win elections by stealth.

I'm no strategist but shouldn't labour be making a bigger deal out of this? Up to them to highlight this surely? (Or maybe someone can tell me they are doing?).

It isn't,but he does highlight a major problem we have. Some people are just so oh orant, or apathetic, or partizan,that Tories can get away with this blatant defeat. With people like him around it's hard to get angry at the Tories. They are simply exploiting ignorance. It's up to us, the general public, to demand more

As some one who was educated in politics at a high level I find your comment odd as you are clearly aware of how politics works and yet you then voted how you did. I’m not stating that’s right or wrong btw as people are free to vote how they wish as that’s democracy. I’m saying that your solution won’t work indoctrination is dangerous.

I am against anyone being prohibited for holding opposing views as people could take your argument and use against it against socialism etc as we’ve seen in the USA.

More Transparency is what we need and more scrutiny and accountability when rules are broken.
