Unai Emery

His work with Spanish clubs is very impressive considering he's never had a job at one of the top three clubs there.
Thought he'd be a good appointed for Barca, but perhaps he doesn't fit their dumb "philosophy".

I think it's a gamble, it didn't go well for him at Arsenal and he has a far bigger rebuilding job at Newcastle.
Time will tell!

Not sure many would fancy the Barca job right now - they're a shambles.

I think it's pretty much the level of appointment you'd expect at the moment, they're second bottom, haven't won this season and there's a big job at hand.

I'd the owners are serious about making them as big as everyone seems to suggest it will take years and a number of cycles to reach that points, if ever.

This seems a solid and sensible appointment and it will be interesting to see which players follow in January.

Its fantastic for them and not someone I expected they would get either, shown himself to be a real top level manager over the last few years. Interesting to see what he can do with that squad though

If he couldn’t do anything at Arsenal I can’t see him doing much at Newcastle.
They will be calling for his head before the turn off the year.

The expectation levels at Newcastle are outrageous now. The next manager is in for a rough ride I think.

It took years for Man City to become a dominant side and that was when the league wasn't congested already with Billionaires.

I think the Saudis are a little bit late to the party, I can see Newcastle qualifying for champs league and winning some cups but I doubt they'll overhaul City and Chelsea for the league.

Also Newcastle have the geography factor against them, City were helped massively by United in attracting players as it was already out there that Cheshire was an adequate place to live for a few years.
