That's a good starting point, i think they'd probably attach a strikers premium to that though. Ivan Toney went for 10 mil in total and he'd never even kicked a ball at championship level, never mind scored a goal! What did Tav go for? £10m plus £2.5m? Thats my guide on value for Archer.
That's my thinking too.I personally think this is great news for us, they will no doubt bring in a fair few players in the summer and especially if they qualify for Europe. I have no doubt they will bring in another striker and I don't see Archer or Ramsey getting much game time in the premier league with Villa. Also Archer and Ramsey have very little premier league experience so is Emry going to want to take that chance on them both, I don't think he will. I think another season at Boro regardless of which league we are in will be best for business for both teams.
££££There is a lot of separation of the player from the club in those comments, like they are treating Archer as a commodity rather than a human. May not actually be like that in practise of course.
This is what happens on a regular basis with young English players and foreign managers unfortunately. If Archer does get his chance he will get a few games and if he does not produce it's back to the bench or loaned out. As good as Ramsey has been for us I don't think he has what it takes as of yet to make a regular starting role in the premier league, he needs to bulk up and work on his defensive game I think before Villa or any premier league team look at him as a regular starter. I reckon in the region of 25 million for the two of them should villa decide to sell. That's my thinking too.
We can "gamble" on a striker with no PL experience as realistically we will be one of the favourites to go straight back down.
Villa looking to kick towards a top 4-6 finish and try to win a cup......with Archer as one of their main forwards - risky.
And then there is the small matter of FFP. £20m+ for Archer ..... business is business especially if they are looking to bring in a forward with more experience and a proven track record.
Finally, what does Archer want? Carabao Cup games and a few mins here and there, or playing every week?
Whole situation is massively up in the air.......but I would definitely make him priority #1 for summer transfers.
This is very true, I reckon we would be in pole position for him mind if he becomes available.Don't ever get too attached to a loan player.
If Villa do decide to sell, then pretty much the whole Championship plus a significant number of Premiership teams will be interested. He will not be cheap. But if Villa make it into Europe, they may want to keep him.
I think we might need to look elsewhere for a new striker.
Agreed. Its also worth considering that Villa`s progress up the league has proceeded unimpeded without Archer [or Ramsey].That's my thinking too.

@FREETHEARCHER love it, if we do make Wembley, I wouldn't like to be up against him with that paceAgreed. Its also worth considering that Villa`s progress up the league has proceeded unimpeded without Archer [or Ramsey].
Clearly, Emery has his own methods and approach to the way he Manages his team. His quoted comment that he hasnt made a decision [yet] on Archer, suggests the door is open.
Wherever we find ourselves - he is definitely #1 on top of the list.

True, but we also can't overlook the importance of what that player wants. He's clearly loving it here, maybe he will want to stay.Don't ever get too attached to a loan player.

Counter to that is e.g. Woody is a Boro fan from Middlesbrough but didn't stop him going off to Leeds because he thought it was best for his development.Archer is a Villa fan from Walsall. He will want to make it a Villa first and foremost if he can.
