Well Modric is a fantastic player but some would argue so is Kane etc. I don’t think on paper their side is ever better than ours really, even in 2018.

I did think it was a missed opportunity, though I don’t think we’d have beaten France (or expected to).

It was soft though, it was a defensively poor CM, non-combatative, even at that time. Two decent footballers at the time, but lightweight, lacking discipline, and not so good without the ball
