Two Swedish fans shot in Belgium

I think it was outside of the stadium, before the game, ,but thought to be terror related. Sounds like players agreed to abandon at half time.

‘One Belgium newspaper said a witness said the shooter shouted "Allahu Akbar" before the shots were fired.

In the video message recorded by the self-declared perpetrator, he said:

"Islamic greeting Allahu Akbar. My name is Abdesalem Al Guilani and I am a fighter for Allah. I am from the Islamic State. We love who loves us and we hate who hates us. We live for our religion and we die for our religion. Alhamdulah. Your brother took revenge in the name of Muslims. I have killed 3 Swedes so far Al hamdoulelah. 3 Swedish, yes. Those to whom I have done something wrong, may they forgive me. And I forgive everyone. Salam Aleykoum’ 😔
 
My mate says Turkey/Erdogan is behind it.
This is a view that may be somewhat coloured by his own views on Erdogan.
 
IS there a reason why Swedes would be targeted?
My first thought was was this linked to what's happening in Israel, but Sweden is just about the only developed Western country that recognizes Palestine, which makes it seem less likely.

See above. Erdogan has been accusing Sweden of harbouring terrorists for quite some time. Hence the veto on Sweden's Nato membership.

How's about the hundreds of millions of lives that were lost in the twentieth century due to wars fought over imperialism and political ideologies.
How's about the hundreds of thousands of civilians killed due to illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq by us and our pals.
What about them peace loving atheists like Stalin and Mao who killed literally millions of their own people to serve there own ambition.
How's about the genocide and illegal occupation that's being happening with Western support in Palestine for decades.
What about Gun crime in America, where almost on a weekly basis middle aged "Christian" white men shoot up schools and shopping malls with legally bought semi automatic rifles.
Maybe it's humanity in general that needs lambasting and ridiculing, rather than picking on one group the vast majority of whom are decent and peace loving people.

I think Gunslinger has gone as is his Original post, it's a shame in a way because he will only find the same circles that will confirm his way of thinking at least on here, wether Rob likes it or not there will be people willing to argue it out with him , it might have an impact or it might not, but that's my individual hope anyway, that after the initial anger has settled he may be receptive to other thoughts. Probably not, I have my little digs at Rob in some posts but I wouldn't like his job in this situation.
