Twitter response to racism

They don’t actually check these reports, do they? Twitter, I mean. You see all kinds of disgusting stuff posted on there, YouTube, Facebook, etc. They might have a look now a football club has made a point of it but I suspect they’re not really bothered about it until it becomes damaging to their brand(or may result in a loss of income).

I think they did and dealt with them (on occasion at least) but what seems to happen now is you get a quick 'everything's fine' response

I know we have had discussion after discussion on here about racism etc on Twitter, what info should be provided etc when signing up, but something has just come to me. Am I right in thinking that even on something as small as FMTTM (no offence intended Rob!), that it will not allow you to put certain words into your posts? Surely someone as big as twitter can follow suit with this??

I put a post on supporting Yusuf the other day .. basically saying "I hope they [as in racists] die off soon like the rest of the Neanderthals" .. and I got suspended for 12 hours for a twitter violation .. apparantly, you can't want or hope anybody dies off .. not even racists!

The man who owns the site was brought up in South Africa in the late 70s early eighties. I imagine they had a different attitude to racism there and then.

If someone made a new platform where that you had to register with some form of ID like a bank card or Paypal account registered to you and your profile photo had to confirm to passport photo rules, or it was taken from your passport or an ID card - which a simple algorithm can manage - and also had a way of filtering words nobody wants to read but also monitoring who was attempting to publish such words, so if you attempt hate speech then 1,2,3 strikes and your out. I think you'd make a fortune. The hate speech would be extremely limited as you'd know exactly who it was coming from. No bots or spam, no eggs or people hiding behind cartoon profile photos, proper accountability. It would only take a few big stars to join to make it work, Twitter is already toxic anyway and a new safer platform is round the corner.

shocking but no surprise by the response from these companies.

Glad I don’t have Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram etc…
