In case you missed this then the full line up for Twisterella has been announced with fast-rising regional faves The Howl & The Hum confirmed as this year's reverse headliner. The line up for what is the 10th anniversary is absolutely banging and, as always, it represents a great opportunity to make an early connection with some of the most exciting new acts from around the UK and further afield. Apologies in advance for what will be some inevitable set time clashes! Stage times/stage splits will be announced a little further down the line.
The festival has also recently had some great coverage from The Line of Best Fit, for which we're really grateful. You can read it here: https://www.thelineofbestfit.com/ne...ull-lineup-for-tenth-anniversary-celebrations

Tickets are available here: https://www.seetickets.com/event/tw...24/teesside-university-students-union/2845080 and for the second year running there's also an allocation of tickets available for Under 18's.

Thanks to all those who have already got their tickets. As in previous years, the current ticketing data is showing that music fans will be travelling to Middlesbrough from all corners of the UK. A special doffed cap (or maybe make that a doffed Stetson) to whoever has bought tickets in Maryland, USA. God bless American indie music fans with a passion for long distance travel!

Also, a word about the Twisterella Unconference
As always, the Twisterella Unconference, held at the Town Hall on the morning of Twisterella, will be free to attend for any aspiring and emerging musicians and acts, where we'll have a top panel of industry experts giving bespoke advice. Previous attendees have gone on to gain management deals, publishing deals, BBC 6 Music live sessions, BBC Tees live sessions. The Unconference is funded entirely from ticket sales and is a significant commitment in helping to support the next generation of local/regional talent. It's mint!

Looking forward to this. I'm well out of the local music scene and only really heard/seen Irked and Melanie Baker from the line-up. Hopefully will pick the right artists for me to see.

The excellent Low Girl is today's featured act. Superb!

Artist bio.
Low Girl is the work of multi-instrumentalist Sarah Cosgrove and her bandmates Toby, Tom and Brad. Described by DIY Magazine as “a peppy new pop talent”, the band released debut EP Big Now in May 2021 and haven’t looked back since. The EP was preceded by the release of the title track, which picked up support from BBC Radio 1, Radio X and was featured on the ‘New Music Fix’ playlist on BBC 6Music, as well as strong support from DIY, The Line of Best Fit and Spotify to name a few.

Always wanting to present bodies of work, Low Girl have released three EPs to date, alongside their four singles. Steve Lamacq is a big supporter at BBC 6music, with previous single ‘Bored’ going on to be playlisted, alongside Jack Saunders at BBC Radio 1, the station that made their second single ‘So Cool’ BBC Introducing TOTW. Spotify support has also been strong for the band, with three of their five single releases hitting the coveted New Music Friday UK playlists, as well as Hot New Bands, Fresh Finds and Melomania.

A debut, sold-out London headline show at The Lexington, BBC introducing slots at Reading & Leeds, SXSW and tour supports with Dream Wife, Pom Poko, October Drift and The Murder Capital have cemented the live sound of a band coming of age.

Citing artists ranging from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard to King Princess, Phoebe Bridgers as inspiration, the breadth of Low Girls’ influences are clear to hear but never detracts from their own unique identity and innate songwriting ability.

“I think in a world where music is getting faster, louder, angrier. The artists that stick to perhaps the intricacies a little more seem to be having a bigger impact. It’s like a welcome respite from the appetite for chaos that we often have. Life is all about balance at the end of day, isn’t it? Low Girl bring the balance really nicely. Rhythms that play it cool, a soft touching vocal that states ‘I did it for me’. That’s rule number one in life, isn’t it. Always do it for yourself, first and foremost. Low Girl abiding by that brilliantly on that song right there, which will be a welcome addition to your playlist if you’ll have it.” – Jack Saunders

Next up, The Manatees, who will be playing at the Town Hall Crypt. They're ace, uber-melodic and signed to the legendary Fierce Panda Records (Coldplay, Keane, Embrace, The Music, Ash, Death Cab For Cutie, Idlewild, Placebo, etc...). Will definitely appeal to fans of Vistas, Sea Girls and the like! This is such a great booking for the festival.
