Only if you DO actually watch live TV. There's never been a better time to do without live TV.not really though, it creates so many problems and hassle if you did choose to opt out

what if you want to watch live TV but not the BBC, its so difficult to manage now with streaming devices. Its not clean cut like it used to be, basically if you had a TV you needed a license.Only if you DO actually watch live TV. There's never been a better time to do without live TV.
The amount of times I've heard people say "All I want is to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+, why should I have to pay for a licence??"

Well it is really. Unless you want to watchwhat if you want to watch live TV but not the BBC, its so difficult to manage now with streaming devices. Its not clean cut like it used to be, basically if you had a TV you needed a license.
Never, ever let them inDon't watch iPlayer, ITVX ect .. we have streaming services (Netflix Disney ect) but neither me or my son watch anything on terrestrial TV at all or through their streaming services.
Don't have cable TV either.
Don't miss it, always read news, occasionally might catch a report on You Tube or other video sharing platforms.
Had inspectors in my house several times checking everything.
Yes but if that is the argument then it should be done through taxation which makes it progressive and not regressive. It also shouldn't be a criminal offence not to pay it.Is there an argument that the pot of money provided through taxation means there is an ability to create programmes that are important to some people in society that otherwise would not be created if there was only mainstream appetite?
Arts, culture, sports, local stuff (radio tees?)?
I think of the BBC as a socialist kind of vehicle that means things important to people across society get provided, not just the mainstream stuff.
For example I do not like radio 2 but Doris down the road might listen to it for 6 hours a day as she's lonely. Moving BBC to a purely subscription based service would likely mean that service got canned as it's maybe not got enough demand to keep it going.
So if I want to watch ITV I have to have a TV license. How is that right?Well it is really. Unless you want to watch
a) BBC
b) live TV on any channel
you don't need a licence. Lots of people nowadays manage easily without either.
You will just end up with another ITV, so not everyone will be all that happy I don’t suppose. So if I want to watch ITV I have to have a TV license. How is that right?
Make BBC commercial and option of a subscription and everyone will be happy.
Isn’t the TV license being abolished anyway in a couple of year? I thought this came out of parliament not long ago
It is possible of course that they watch live games in the pub.Am I right in saying that one or two on here who say they don't have a TV license and only watch Netflix, Prime, etc. regularly contribute to threads on live football that are being shown on the box? I could be wrong.
Just for clarity, you need a TV license if you watch live on any channel, TV service or streaming service, or use BBC iPlayer, you need to be covered by a TV Licence. This applies to any device you use, including a TV, computer, laptop, phone, tablet, games console or digital box.
Because it's not optional. I might want to watch Live TV that has nothing to do with the BBC but I'm forced to pay for BBC to do so. And it's a criminal offence to not have one when you are supposed to have one.I don't understand this moaning on about a completely optional expense. Make it make sense
