Turnstile Complexity

Today being a cup game I was reminded of the sheer, mind boggling complexity and fear that automated turnstiles hold for some people.🙄
In order to avoid chaos at our potential play-off semi home leg I will be bringing out a new book for those that suffer with the debilitating illness of turnstile-ophobia. You can pre-order at GetAFeckingGrip.com.

A lady in front of me had some sort of turnstile phobia.. she apologised for keeping me waiting. Poor lass! obviously was overthinking it and was anxious about holding people up.

I'm glad all our fans aren't this hostile to newbies.
No hostility, it's great to see people who don't normally attend coming to games, especially bringing the young kids along. Just mild amusement at some of the machinations and suspension of common sense that I witnessed.

Yeah hostile was probably the wrong word, sorry. If I see someone outside of their element and having a bit of a struggle, my instinct is to try and help, not ridicule. I'm not even a nice guy, I'm a massive chunt!

I just don't want to see people getting put off going to the odd game.

If your row and seat numbers are in double figures please allow at least 10 minutes to find your seat.
Walk up and down several blocks first, just to get a feel of the system.
Always ask a steward to confirm you have located your correct seat. You can never be certain.
On your way back from each concourse visit, repeat the above process.
Job done.

I guess a lot of it is people not waiting for the green flashing to stop after the previous person before putting their ticket in?

Regularly see people walking in to locked turnstiles because of that.

My print at home tickets worked fine for me and my daughter.

Brother picked up his tickets from the ticket office and his was a dud. Wouldn't work. Steward had to let him in.🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Never had these issues paying £4 cash in the Holgate...... 😁

Been going for years and I still get turnstile anxiety, to be fair.
To be honest first game of the season and cup games with either printed tickets or 'on season card' there's only one topic of conversation in the car...........will it work.🤔
I always have a printed of copy of the confirmation email about my person just in case.🙂

Guy in front of me was abusing the steward as the turnstile would not let him in. He was so angry he dropped his gold card ((ST, not Amex!) and didn’t notice. I thought about allowing instant karma to operate, but helpfully picked it up for him. In retrospect I should have left it on the floor.

The world needs more love like this! So many people have their default set to Grumpy. I just usually give people the benefit of the doubt. Generally if you scratch the surface of a big old grump, there's a lovely person hiding inside.
