I never thought that in the 21st century I would see the things I have seen recently. Food banks in local towns, and no doubt many towns and cities further afield. People giving food away outside churches in Guisborough that is almost out of date. People having to put their pride to one side and take their pick to feed their families. Others idly walking past acknowledging that this image is acceptable.

Today in Middlesbrough a 'Kindness Wall' I think that was what it was called, where people hang their clothes for others to come and take. There were a few people stood examining the coats on display. One person was trying on a jacket in the pouring rain in full view of everyone.

The country is almost on its knees and yet it is supposed to be one of the richest in the world. These scenes are not dissimilar to scenes from the second world war ghettos, or a third world country. But this is England in 2022. A country that this year has recorded a record number of billionaires.

After all these years of Tory failure I think the local MPs, Simon Clarke etal, should hang their heads in shame at these sights. No doubt they will spin it, blame the war in Ukraine, and world events etc. While they take their huge salaries and expenses in Westminster. It doesn't wash with me.

Apologies for the rant but is this really the best we can do?

Coming soon...

Medical Banks - where the poor who can't afford health insurance can get charity medicines and minor surgery, sometimes even with an anaesthetic. I am not joking.

It's the Americanisation of the economy which has gone on for decades, crush public services and increase the wealth divide. neolibralism brought to us by thatcher and continued by new labour was supposed to drive economic prosperity when it's true goal was to divide a nation. It's an utter disgrace. Radical change is needed to reverse economic division. Unfortunately I can't see starmer taking on the markets to reverse damage done to public services through massive government investment programmes. Right and even centrist governments like labour have really done **** all to help the poorest in society for decades.

That's Mrs Thatchers walk in the wilderness in the last photo. It was all contaminated land and is where the Stockton Riverside college is now and I did a thesis on it. At least that was one good thing to come out of it...

Not really, it’s been a bag of absolute ****. In one of the biggest economy’s on the planet we have citizens using food banks to feed their children. It’s why I can’t get my head around any Teessider voting for these *****.
I guess if you vote for the party that is going to feather your own nest then the party that gets voted in will benefit the most people. That's the theory behind it anyway.

Sounds a bit like her leading the fight against climate change, by closing all the mines.

There is an App called OLIO, one of the things it will highlight is food waste which you can use to grab stuff before it heads to landfill - now understand I have not used this but it is being touted on Facebook as a potential source of additional food for families in need.

2023 will be a climate change tipping point, we need to move to renewable energy now, we should all be voting for the green party 👍
for me this shows why we need to force a form of proportional representation rather than first past the post - Tory & Labour - don't want this as it would drain their trough... Labour need to put it front & centre of their manifesto then the Greens & environmental issues will get a platform too.
