TUI flights skids off Leeds Bradford airport

No injuries reported as plane skids off runway​

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said there were no reported injuries on the plane which came off the runway at Leeds Bradford Airport earlier.
A spokesperson said: “[Our] command unit has now been stood down, and remaining crews are now assisting in evacuating all persons from the aircraft to the terminal.”
An airport apokesperson said: "We can confirm TUI flight TOM3551 arriving from Corfu this afternoon has moved off the runway whilst landing."

Try Genoa City Airport in the Winter! I was working over there in the 80s and getting a flight home for Christmas. The weather was so bad that the only airline that landed (and took off) was British.
 
Bristol is better now they extended the runway a bit.

previous to that is was like landing on an aircraft carrier

But have you ever done that? I did in a sea king which was lairy enough, but better than landing on the back of a frigate in a significant sea swell…(I wasn’t the pilot tho…)
 
Stopped flying from Leeds years ago after shocking cross winds gave us a desperately worrying landing. Has a reputation for being a very windy space and it’s been Newcastle for us ever since. Saying that today would have been a shocking day for anybody flying out of the UK.
