Tuchel and Poch

If Southgate goes I think the job should go to an English coach, we've been down this road before with Sven and Capello and it didn't work,, there starts be less connection between the public and team, as it's just another team of overhyped individuals like Chelsea, Man City or Liverpool. So you are looking at someone like Lampard from EPL, our own Michael Carrick or promotion from within, Lee Carsley current u21 boss played for Republic of Ireland thanks to an Irish Grandmother.
It hasn’t worked with any coach since 66.
Nationality doesn’t appear to be the deciding factor.

Best person for the job regardless of where they come from IMO

Echoes my sentiments. I really like Southgate and he's done a good job in the main, but you can't help but feel a better coach tactically and technically would have got a bit more out of the squad and maybe won something. Maybe not the last two WC's, but I think we could/should have done a bit better than we have.

But I hand on heart think we should have won the last Euros, and we'll struggle to get ourselves in to such a favourable position again. It was a golden opportunity that we should have taken.

It’s testament to Southgate that you’ve even get these 2 managers interested in the role. Who had it before Gareth? Sam Allardyce that’s who.

I’d probably go for Tuchel over Poch as I don’t think players meet up enough for his ideas to fully get across at international level. He gets teams playing well normally but I don’t see him as a “winning manager”.

Tuchel came in to Chelsea and got them doing well pretty quickly. Think he’d be a one tournament and done appointment.

Absolutely **** no to tuchel

I think Southgate has kind of got the best out of some of these players because he has an empathetic personality . Tuchel doesn’t strike me as like that at all .

I doubt it would ever happen but I’d sooner have klopp or guardiola , but then I doubt they’d come

I think Southgate has shown England need a nurturing style of manager that brings people together

I'd go with Poch actually. Think he'd inject more aggression into the side which is needed to take the next step I think.

I’m not interested in either. Neither have won much of note and neither have any particular affiliation to England. They are both hyped up purely because they’ve managed well supported London clubs. One of whom not even for very long. For me it’s another potential Capello situation. I’d have Klopp if he was available though.

I prefer the model of appointing a manager who seems like he actually cares and actually wants to succeed for the nation, not just to get him the Real Madrid job. It’s a lot easier to get behind those guys for the long term in my opinion, and I do believe international management should be about a long game. I also don’t care about style of football, I care about results. The only criticism of Southgate I’d have is a lack of ruthlessness.

In this country we always seem to be in awe of everyone else’s players and managers but never our own, even when they’re good. I’d like a new manager to try and address this.
