Trump to be undone by civil war legal clause ?

Damn interesting. I'd wondered how something like that hadn't found it's way into the Constitution maybe over Benedict Arnold, back when Trump was being investigated as a Russian asset.

They're fanning the flames by trying to impeach him. He is going to try everything he can to stop it, as will his supporters. It's as if they are trying to cause more trouble.

It looks more like they're trying to stop him standing again. If he does, the Democrats are more likely to win.

I think Biden would be happy for this to all go away though.

He is trying everything to stop it, I wonder why?

If he has committed a crime he needs to do the time. Or don't you believe in Law and Order? Let's go straight to Godwin's Law, you are Neville Chamberlain and I claim my fiver.

If they are going to put armed people on the street to overthrow the legitimate government are you going to appease him some more?

The threat's there, because it is a threat. Impeach him and you get it. There's a word for that. And next time, because there would be a next time, they'll be back with more threats. What kind of way is that to run a democracy?

He and his enablers have to face the consequences of their actions.
Back in 2016 before the election the GOP were all well aware of just what Trump was, what he was going to do and the potential for what has transpired.
This self-same people soon changed their minds when he was nominated and have since gone along with the entire lie of his presidency and his attempted coup. Some say privately that they have done so because of worries for their own safety, but they can't rewrite the history and documented evidence of what they said and what they've done since.

Can they press charges against him once he has left office? Just seems that this is gonna blow up big style by trying to impeach him at the minute

As I understand it by impeaching him he will not be able to run for public office ever again so it removes his baleful influence from 2024. I think also you have to go after everyone who has enabled him, in some ways they are worse. They knew what he was like and what he might do but thought that it was a price worth paying for power.

If you are worried about "it blowing up" you need to make sure you have a nice big stick to knock it down with, otherwise you might just as well throw the keys of the White House to the Trump Crime Family.

That seems to be questionable as impeachment only allows the president to be removed from office. It's not even clear if an impeachment trial can go ahead after leaving office. This new found amendment is in the hands of Congress and is designed to stop future public office.

The vote to disbar future office would be done after impeachment and needs only a majority, not a 2/3rd majority like the impeachment vote.
As for impeachment after leaving office, why not? Just because he has 9 days left should not mean he doesn't face the consequences of this. If a felon went on the run, would that mean he wouldn't face the consequences of his crimes?

On TV a woman standing in front of the Capitol today (dressed in the Star Spangled Banner) said to the watching world “There is no way Joe Biden will be inaugurated“.

Well if that isn't a threat that should be punishable by immediate arrest and imprisonment I don’t know what is.

Do you see how he looked into the cameras and said....I want NO VIOLENCE I’ll say this again I want NO VIOLENCE..

Yes if that’s not a message to his base I don’t know what is.

he has no remorse he has no empathy.

You, you're joking right? So, someone fans the flames of civil unrest for months, leading to a storming of the capitol. When the democrats do something about it, it's THEIR fault? Dear god. I'd like to live inside your brain for a day, see how that came out.

I imagine you're the type to blame remainers for the failure of brexit. There is probably a very small ven diagram here.

They need to go in hard, while the Capitol Hill assault is still fresh, take out Trump and anyone who stands along side him, time to play him at his own game, when he says ‘No Violence’ you know Violence is exactly what he wants his brainwashed followers to perpetrate.
